I found that the RC helps to fill in while my turd 1:1 is outta commission for a while

That is exactly why I got one, although I could have finished my 1:1 with the amount of money I have dumped into my toy. :redneck:

see for me, I would still be collecting more parts, and tube for my 1:1 so it evens out, and I couldnt even really wheel my 1:1 while building my RC cause I was DD'ing the 1:1

Ok, so i think i am picking up Trikekid's truck start. someone said it might be too wide for comps but i don't care too much, i can figure that out later. But i think i have my work cut out for me to get it ready to roll...literally.:haha:

Does anyone have any good suggestions for D-lines and links? I was trying to find some nice long slip d-lines, but this stuff confuses me more than 1:1:haha: So do i need a joint that conects my WK pinion to the d-line? or are they pretty universal?:eeek:

I am not familar with the tranny output, does it have a hole in the output shaft sticking out?? as for the axle side, use traxxas nitro (tmaxx $8) shafts. they are pretty common and you can use the wheely king yokes with the traxxas shafts and joints. I used this setup on three wheely kings and they have been beat to **** with no probs.:awesomework: If you dont have any yokes at all then use the traxxas part #4928 output yokes.($5)

a stock AX-10 would wheel circles around that WK, but it is your choice. :;

for links, go to the hobby shop and get 2 or 3 one foot sticks of 1/4inch .049 wall aluminum tubing ($3) and a couple of bags of 20mm long threaded allen studs($2) and traxxas large rod ends and balls.($6) then go to the hardware store and buy a box of 100 4-40 phillips screws and 4-40 nylocks($10), then start building!!

cut your lower links to the length you want, then thread in a stud till it gets hard to turn (tube is not threaded but stud will thread right in about a half inch then get tight), then screw some rodends in and presto=you got links!! use the 4-40 hardware to mount all the links and shocks etc.

if you are close to covington go to rc hobbies and talk to geano and tell him your list and he will grab all of it and show you how to assemble the links. he is pretty helpful. the same link material can be used for your steering too. dont be afraid to buy doubles of parts, they never break when a hobby store is open!

as far as the AX-10 is concerned...yes it would be nice...but i am also, not a follower of convention:haha: I want to do this from scratch, i can always get different axles later down the road, I think i am going to go witha different frame setup, but this will get me going and give me an idea of what the heck to do. Plus it'll juet make it that much more impressive when i beat everyone at comps:stirpot: :haha: :haha: :haha: (not!)

Thanks for the info C.S.!:awesomework: I don't have a hobby shop yet that i can call my home...im sure there is one around here...:eeek: do you maybe have some links to a place to get that stuff online? I like the idea of building it myslef, i am just going to be placing an order online and want to get it all at once... maybe still cut up my own links:awesomework:

SO now i am second guessing that truck:rolleyes: sounds like it might be more work than worth:booo:

maybe a scratch build is what i need :awesomework: that ultimately is what i want:awesomework:

thats funny!! I dont compete so I dont how they compare at comps, but all my friends with axials fix something (knuckles,Cs, shafts, shocks, yokes, setscrews, etc) everytime we go out. I have almost ground through my axle housings and broke nothing!! I am on my second set of links cuz the first ones ground through and one finally broke!! axails are for folks that cant build or gather good parts. I think its stupid to see the same rig, same body, same wheels=cookie cutter. be origanal. that axial is like a jeep rubicon, if your a nerd, itll help you wheel!! the others (tlt, WK, etc.) are like toyotas and sammis, they suck stock but with some skill and good parts it will clown a rubicon. Oh and you wont see every 11 year old kid at the rock pile with the same rig as yours!!

ok, i think a scratch build is what is gonna happen. I saw a place that sold axial axles for $80/pr. But i think for a scratch, i will go TLT...:corn: I have a frame picked out also...links are taken care of, sounds like.

I guess I dont understand what your after?? you are starting from scratch. with a pair of axles, a radio, a tranny, some tires, even a servo mount too. thats a good start to build from. your gonna do the same work to an axial to beat it, just more money.

Whoever said my truck was too wide is way off, that truck is 11 1/4 wide, last I checked national comp rules allowed 12.5. As for Dude's comment, I'll just respectfully disagree.

ya, i dont know either :haha: I just want something to beat, but have the possibility of competing...

I don't break stuff--and I have a brushless motor :haha: :haha:

dont you have a tlt?? thats what I would have built if I had more input before starting. but for a basher, its hard to beat that $100WK deal just for parts. I really like my WK, its been tough and cheap. now that I am back into RCs and caught up on things, I prefer the super size rigs. they are more money but so cool. I dont think it gets cooler than mini rockwells:cool: I will keep my wheely king to play with when the super kills the bateries!!

maybe somebody should let boonie play with a big rig!!! he would be screwed!!
