Re: I think this would be the shizzz....

oh wow - 5.5 lock to lock - I thought you were 2.75 already, bad reading on my part

the hydro calculations are exactly what this is for - mismatching cheap **** with cheap pumps

I got forklift junk orbitals and surplus center ram with a stock gm pump - that calculator let me know which orbital to go look for and it has been spot on with the turns lock to lock on each one.

Re: I think this would be the shizzz....

I have PSC pump, resy and cyl... only cheap thing in my system is the free JD Combine Orbital...

just so we are clear on cheap... laughing1

Re: I think this would be the shizzz....

Danfoss that is in the buggy is the JD COmbine unit P/N 150-0002 Model OSP100

I also have the option of putting Danfoss 150-0027 Model B 100 ON

Any of you techy interweb hunters know if its worth the swap or not ??? ( Ill have to fab a good bit the column inputs are completely different so I cant run the column that was on the buggy if I swap to the other orbital..

BTT... for UPDATE

I ordered it and plan to install it this weekend if all my Tcase stuff goes as planned.

Anyway the questions we all raised in this thread and from what I learned from someone running one on a full hydro rig that had the same issue as mine.

1. Armstrong style to turn it. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT , Man this thing is SO SMALL that the added friction to turn it I think will actually make it "feel" more car like. I could kick my self in the butt for not turning Lebrons with the quickner this weekend to feel it, but he said the only thing he has noticed is its way easier to get it lock to lock and it solved his issue ( same as mine, he said he was 6 turns lock to lock before.... ) We are talking FULL HYDRO application, I could see in a roundy round or "manual" enviroment having to armstrong it to turn. I think Im gonna be A-OK on that issue.

2. As mentioned obviously this will cut my lock to lock turn input down considerable, more exciting to me is the little quick inputs that PLAGUE me since it feels like it requires so much effort to get my wheels to turn ( effort in input through the steering wheel... arms a flappin as fast as i can to steer were I wanna be )

Im excited outside of the fact it did come in that gay color molaugh

I also like tight steering. I went from 5 turns lock to lock to just under 2. The thing you may run into is outrunning the pump. When I was at 5 turns it was pretty much impossible to turn the wheel fast enough to make it go dead. Now that I'm at two turns if I turn the wheel really fast while the motor is only at idle I can outrun the pump by a little bit.

Having had both, I have a much easier time making small corrections that spinning an entire revolution. I was downright dangerous at high speed trying to keep myself out of trees because even normal driving required frantic hand of hand corrections. Just as important, stuff like a k-turn to line up for an obstacle required 15 revolutions of the wheel and I hated it.

I'm not sure how getting a new orbital like I did will compare to spinning your existing orbital faster. Be sure to let us know.

JUST curious the cost of this unit vs a new orbital since that is your current problem?

Ahhh if only it were as simple as just replacing one part... ie bolt on . Because of my current John Deere column and orbital Id have to redo alot to make a "proper column" work. Time + Money = P aint wheeling for a while. This is simple ( done last night ) and with the couplers to make it even more simple was 139.xx to my door.

New orbital is like what... 300 bux :dunno: F that and then a column on top of that...sheeeeit. I have a danfoss that might work thats newer and off a forklift of some sort, but again even to TRY and see, it would require alot of fab time and Id have to buy a different column that would cost nearly what the quickner cost .

This was the cheapest QUICKEST method to cure my issue. Im cheap and quick so its a fit molaugh

P, I've got a buddy who put one on this cab truck when he built is a few years ago. He loved it.
Werd, I feel good about it curing the issue's I have with the budget I have :afro:

Its on there, its a done dealio on my end. Just cant give feedback right now as I have the Tcase out of it for the front HD shaft upgrade since I broke that last weekend.

Hope to have it back together this weekend if my parts will show up today.

:flipgotcha: :flipgotcha: Seriously who the hell is P talking about.

I don't know, I think he made him up to justify his snake oil, I mean steering quickener. Until I have some proof of who he is I will continue to believe he is NBA superstar.

would have saved time and morey had you gotten a PSC kit from that jump foo...

mine is about 2.5 turns lock2lock easy peezy! :flipoff1:

seriously though...glad you got it worked out.....

Mine too. A matched system does work :flipoff1:
