Iroks Or Krawlers?????

Jobless said:
True...when I first bought them and they had sharp edges, but after wheeling them for some time I found they did perfrom as well as my previous set of TSL's.

Yes, as a rugged, reliable tire they hold up fine and a I have nothing bad to say about the strength and abuse that they will take.

The only reason I went with the IROK in the 1st place is becasue at the time I could not get a 40" TSL for a 16" rim...only the 39.5" IROK.

Something else worth pointing out which is no myth...regardless of rim size (15, 16 or 17") airing down the IROKS in order to increase sidewall flex to a point which makes them perform better cuases the inner bead to leak air or come off. I could pull the stems on my TSL's and never worry about leaking or loosing a bead, this would be on the same set of rims.

So, if the inner bead didn't leak would you still want a new set of TSL or the IROK?
Personally I haven't had any real issue with leaking beads with the IROK's I have(39.5x13x15) Oh, I would like to try a set of krawlers, but I don't think my little axles are up to them yet.

I'll never buy IROKS again...especially since Interco now makes a 40" TSL in a 17" rim

Is that why you sold your wheels and tires to Fullywrecked?

Im sure he sold his wheels and useless old iroks to him because he went to a 17 inch rim and far superior tire. Iroks are cheap, Like a Loc rite.

I sold the Rims cause they were a 16" and tire choices are limited in that size. Iwanted to keep them to mount a set of winter wheelin/snow tires on but couldn't afford the new rims without selling them.

The tires were two years old, 50% tread or so and I was no longer happy with how they performed.

wow I haven't heard of this many problems witht he IROK's what did you like about them jobless?

They are an Interco Bias Ply tire...they are just as tough as their others and like I mentioned before I think they worked well when new but dropped off quickly when they lost there edge.

well I just picked up some comp. 39 krawlers for $600. They have around 75-80% tread. I couldn't pass up the deal and I am now going to be converting my axles to 6 lug and then I can run my 37" toyos in the snow if I need a snow tire now.

Iroks tried and true, I run the 42's at 3psi and never lost a bead. the 17" I felt was better than the 15" because to much sidewall flex in a 15"

Now if you could get the red crawlers they are better (but suck in snow) , and the tsl are to stiff of compound like the blue crawlers.
IMO

red would be gone quick on the road though

I feel rims are to blame for loss of inner bead over tires

If you don't mind ballons get the Iroks. I rand the 39.5's on a 3000lb rig and LOVED them in all conditions. They don't have a very deep tread though. Seemed to wear pretty quick. Looks wise the Krawler's are better. I run the 37's (blue) right now. They were great at the Rubicon and at Evans on the muddy trails. I ran them in the snow last night and they were allright. I think I'm going to have the middle of them sipped this week. They run pretty good on the street and seem like there going to have a good life span. (5800lb rig. Arb's=open on the street)
Do they make a 42 radial or are we comparing a bias(irok) to a radial(Krawler)?
Seems like I would go with the Krawler If it's a streeter and the Irok if it's a trailered rig myself. Plus if it's a trailer rig I'd rather have the taller tire and the bias for sidewall flex.
Also I thought they only made the 39 Krawler in RED. and the 35 and 37's came in Blue and Red!?

they both do really good offroad. I think the Krawlers are better on the rocks. But Krawlers are twice the price of Irok's

39" Krawler is red, and blue I THINK only if you "know" somebody. 37" is either, 35" is Blue compound only.

I would completely disagree with you on this Troy, as its a Krawler thing to loose inner beads. The only way I can keep them on is to run at 9-10. But maybe its just me.:flipoff:
