Iroks Or Krawlers?????

39" Krawler is red, and blue I THINK only if you "know" somebody. 37" is either, 35" is Blue compound only.

There were Red 35's made. I've seen them in person. With there wear pattern there is no question they were RED.

I've gotten the impression that if you want a good rock tire (On a trailered rig) get Krawlers. But if you want a tire for everything (trailered rig) then the Super swamper is the way to go.. but the arguement between TSL/SX and Irok seems to be endless. :corn:

Maybe for a limited run for "special" people, or testing or something. No red label 35's for general production though.

As for losing inner beads on the Krawlers (beadlocked), I've heard the stories but never seen one. I've been on week long runs where nearly everyone there had Krawlers and only guys running 3-5 PSI without beadlocks ever losyt a bead. I've personally had 5 (all blue label) sets on 3 different sets of wheels and never lost an inner bead. I usually run at 6 PSI for normal wheelin' and 1.5- 4 in the snow. Siping makes a HUGE difference in performance.
IMO, where and when you wheel is very important in which tire you choose. In rocks and hardpack, a red label Krawler works very well. But because the edges wear so quickly, they don't seen to be a good tire for anyplace wet or very loose. I run with guys that have IROC's and they seem to have similar characteristics to the red Krawlers, great in the rocks (not as good as a Krawler though--any color) but only good in wet or loose areas when new and sharp. The wide tread spacing on the IROC allows it to wear edges faster than some other tires plus they're soft as hell.
But, all that being said, if I had to pay full price for tires I'd probably really consider the IROC but I'd probably change them every year to be sure the edges stayed kinda sharp.

Actually I feel the iroks work better on rocks as they wear out than a sharp edge. as the edge gets tapered back it makes better contact with the rocks. Also running them backwards made a world of difference in rock and mud. I believe they have the arrows pointing were they work best on the street. less noise and wear

I have seen the iroks work very well, better in fact than my 40in tsls. I wont buy another set unless its a great deal. I wasnt impressed with there performance on the rocks. They just spun at 8psi. I am very interested in the 42in sx though. If I get them I will imediately groove them though, since I did that to my tsls they have been much better. My vote is for the irok, which is a mood point since the guy bought crawlers

Rocc- I agree. On the rocks round edges are better, especially with soft compound tires. I always cringe when I watch guys take new red label Krawlers out and smoke them up to break them down. They like them well worn and beat down. Just how we hate them in the mud.:D

cant agree more

Iroks have never impressed me regardless of what terrain they were on. Well OK, I thought they hooked up pretty good in the snow when new.

Seems like good ole TSL's can handle pretty mch everything htrown at them, but have nothing on Iroks/MTR/Krawlers in the rocks.

Again, this is from what I've seen traveling all over the US and wheeling in pretty much every condition out there.

Does anyone know if blue label 39s do exsist? I know.......red is the only way to go but I have been very happy with the performance of both my sets of blues and don't need to buy new tires every year.

Weren't most of the Ultimate Adventure guys running blue label 39's???? I thought that's what I read.

Talking with BFG at numerous comps we were told there is not a red label(sticky) 35" out there. We got the same story from all the major players in the tire market that they have a handshake agreement to not produce a sticky 35". In comparing our set of 35" krawlers with the others (some major sponsorees of BFG) on the werock western circuit, we found all of them to be the same softness, some may have been worn down more, but same compound.

37" Krawlers at Costco - $396 each includes mounting, balancing, warranty.:clappy:
For that price I would go a different way. 1600 for a set of 35 inch tires is a bit much IMO, especially when there are better tires out there in the non Red variety.

I love tires, but sometimes ya just gotta stop at a certain price.. Jesse's brother spent 650 a piece on his tires and 500 a piece for the wheels on his Ford.. That's just insane to me.

BOGGERS, BOGGERS, BOGGERS. I am a total Bogger fan, I bought boggers, cause at every event, and every time I have gone out wheeling, there are always rigs with Boggers doing everything. IMO Boggers or TSL/sx end of story. Although I would like to see how well the Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, or some MT MTZ's fair.
