Little Gibby's 45 MB

Wiring

OK Mike, I am researching wiring options. Currently the vehicle has NO wiring. There is no ignition, horn buttons, signals, light switches etc...

Would you rather create the wiring harness from scratch or do something like this?

I am thinking about this panel.

And I'm thinking about mounting this on the roll bar that is right above the dash.

I am looking at this panel for all the operating/driving controls.

I would be doing a separate panel on the dash for winch controls, air compressor controls, etc.

Thoughts?

Winch control should be easy to reach when fully straped into the seat along with other critical controls. If you cant easily reach them when straped in tight you will leave the belts lose to make things easier. I am pretty sure you have thought of this and this small of a rig it may not be an issue, but just in case.

That is a good point Eric. Funny thing in this rig. You can almost touch the entire rig from the driver's seat :haha:

The joys of an older jeep!:redneck: Figured it may not be an issue. :awesomework:

Looks great! and cant wait to see it on the trail!

I MUCH rather prefer doing my own harness. I have all the needs for making that happen :awesomework:

OK. I think I'll get the switch panel though. That panel that hooks up to the roll bar is a cool idea.

TreeClimber is the proud owner of a 1948 CJ2, or, perhaps a leftover MB, or ??? Anyhow, not really sure, but it's heading to daddy's house, as he will be the owner. So, I was looking for info on 1948s, and stubbled across this pic, which is neither mine, or Gibs, but I think is a cool picture anyway. I hope y'all enjoy it too. :

oh snap... I just brought home a 1952 M100, has data plates, and even the TM dated 1951

So Crash, are you ready to have this thing back.

Jackson and I finally hit it today.
Pulled the front end of, pulled the grill, steering, brake and clutch stuff off, windshield off, gas tank off, all ready for paint. Pulled all the gauges out and junk wiring. Pulled all the diamond plate off as well. Jackson decided that he liked the look of the diamond plate and didn't want to paint it.

We thought we'd put on a can or two and see how it went, well, it went and went and we finished undercoating and putting black truck bed paint on EVERYTHING.

Jackson has several cans of cammo colored paint and it going to paint the camo himself. Regardless of how it comes out, it will be his work and he's going to love it.

Then throw everything back on it and it's ready for you.

I have a new hood and windshield frame. I don't think I'll put the tank back in since you are going to have to take it out to do the pluming. Do you want the steering, brake and clutch stuff remounted or are you going to pull that off anyway?

How soon can you put it in the garage and finish up?

I need the tank and pedals in place if you can.

Unfortunately due to health issues (family) its going to be a while..

I can put it all back in place. I didn't want to create extra work for you.

I didn't remove the pedals.

If I had a shop :haha: Everything is being packed up and moved over the next couple weeks and then stored. With making 2 house payments and probate on my father in laws estate there is zero funds to get the new shop setup (doors/power/dirt/gravel work) unless our place sells then there will be funds to do it..

I was going to see if ya could come and grab the guts for the jeep and store them (and grab the stock jeep trans/tcase).

Yeah, I can do that. Text me you new address. Depending upon where I have to go for girls volley ball this weekend I might be able to get it this weekend. Both girls are playing at different places. We could be anywhere from Edmonds to Kelso. We find out tomorrow.
