Maxxis 42" Comp Trepador coming

They're still saying several months out at least when I talk to them today.

This one is a really soft compound.

Hahaha ewwww. I have almost decided to sell everything I own, and get some... I ask myself.,,, Is it worth 3 sets of tsl's with wheels, set of boggers and a set of 99% treps? :dunno:

Ya got dam right it is!! 800 is roughly the price of a 43.. I get it. But 1000 a tire and I'll send Em hate Mail.

So does this mean the Maxxis "42" will be a true 40" tall tire? Their 39's look like 37's. I've never measured a trep but I've had a 39" comp/sticky creepie next to my 39" bfg krawler and the maxxis tire was noticeably smaller.

That is the difference between a radial and bias ply tire... a bias ply will never run "true" it relies on air pressure for it's diameter, a radial is held round by a bunch of f'n steel... If a bias tire measured a true 42 off the rim, it would be a 45 at full air pressure on the rim, and would still just be a 40 at 10 psi on a rig, and a 38 at 5 psi ....

Here's a better perspective, credit goes to Jesse Haines from the book of faces. He says the new 42 is over 2" taller than the 40.

I've always thought Krawler's were slightly smaller than Trepador's. Here's a no air, no wear comparison of the 40" krawlers, treps and creepies. Also a side by side of the 2.

I've always thought the Trep was taller but it is a 40" and the Krawler is a 39" tire.

My 37" Treps measure 35 1/2 and my 35" Krawlers measure 34 1/2

That straight edge looks to be sloping up to the right also.

I have a new set of 43 SX stickies that measure 41, also have new 42 Pitbulls that measure 38.5. This is new unmounted height to center of highest point of tread. Tire companies must put cold water on these to release from the mold, that would account for shrinkage??? LOL

I don't see the big deal. I tell my gf that "thor's hammer" is a solid 10" but it's really only like 8.5 or 9

I'll show myself out :wtflol:
