i decided that the fenders needed more trimming. last time i wasnt happy with the single thickness of the fender edge. so this time i did it a little differently. i drew a line were i wanted my finished edge to be. then duplicated a second line 3/4" below the first line. i cut everything below the second line off with tin snips. i then cut tabs up to my first line every 1/2inch or so. after cutting the tabs i bent the tabs over tight into the fender on the back side. this left me with a fairly rigid edge and gave me more room to stuff the tires. i am also debating if i should cut the factory battery boxs out and patch in some tin which will inturn give me about 3" more room for tire in the front of the fender. i would relocate my batteries in my upcoming flat bed. i also need to cut the inner fender to make room for my shock hoops. i scored a 3 gauge a-pillar pod for a dodge at work and did some trimming to make it fit nicely around my roll cage. worked out pretty well i thought... great line of sight for gauges and doesnt take away make for outside visability. i also droped the tranny and t-case out of my truck as i am getting ready to setup dual cases. im thinking i will make a trip to bobby long this weekend so i can wrap up my front axle. cant f'ing wait.:redneck: cheers:beer:

Nice progress! I need a crossmember cause the ones you have are way too small length wise, also need a rear brake line(too short), get the d-shafts on, time the motor and hope for the best... :awesomework: If ya need any help you got my number...:corn:

so i went and got steel for my bed and sliders. to start with i took some cross measurements to check how square things are. i then cut off the existing back bumper and rear cross member. i replaced with new steel and welded it in. i built a step into the new bumper and also still have some gusseting and bracing to do. i cut a bunch of other useless things off the frame like shock mounts. :redneck:

thank you for the comment. so ive been pretty busy the past few days. i got steel last fri. for my flatbed and the found out i was going on the freeze your buns run fri. night about 10pm. that killed the rest of friday night and all day sat. i started the flatbed on mon. night and feel like it has made pretty good progress. i had a good idea of what i was going to do as far as basic design but spent a few hours measuring and making what i visioned into a reallity on sunday. monday night i built the bottom frame with the help of my bro. we also tore my welder all apart to find out why my gas wasnt hitting my weld. we found a bad crimp right out of the welding unit on the torch lead. we fixed that with a good hose clamp and "BAM" wal-la, it works like it should, instead of producing inconsistant and shity welds. hopefully my grinding wheel bill will go down and maybe i can by more parts(or build). tuesday night i started on the side rails and how the tool box would fit. and more planning as i really dont want to have to scrap any of the steel i just bought. im not sure how the spare is going to fit yet but have an idea. tonight i continued framing the side rails and tool box frame. not feeling so hot though due to the piece of metal taken out of my eye by the eye doctor. let me know what you think. this is my first major fab and im pretty stoked. it is actually turning out the way i planned.:redneck:

maybe its overkill? but hey id rather do it once, than have to fix it 2 or 3 times. besides it needs some more weight over the rear axle anyways...:redneck:

 Does the tool box hang out past the cab? i had something similar that stuck out about 2" and I fawked up my tool box on my 2nd trip out.

it sticks out about 3/4" but im also still going to add a piece of 1x2 on its side the lenght of the bed dove tailed at the rear. it should be plenty to keep the box clean.

a few pics from last weekends progress. i need to oder my fuel cell. also need to get some plate. im a new uncle as of last friday at 12:59am. thats pretty cool. pretty excited to have her as a niece. when i get the plate i can finish the fenders and mount my lights on the tailgate. i need to decide how im going to do shock mounts.
