Sounds like a plan... I'd be willing to do that.

The only issue I see... is with people throwing the flyers on the ground.

Thats easy. you leave a line at the bottom of the flier and you write the lic. plate # on it :D

SOunds like a good idea. The only problem is the fact of just how ways there are into the area.....

You can't lose till you try.

I am totally for printing flyers and driving around at opportune times the memorial day weekend. Just little educational pamphlets. We can get support from the Forest Service. Not a biggie.

I would say 90% is ignorance. They simply don't know it isn't okay. The other 10% are going to have 911 called on them.

I vote for a group of us to "patrol" and take video/pics if neccessary and aid the Rangers on Mem day weekend.

This will help us all and keep the "free for all's" down. No more mudding = no more closures.

My first thought exactly. What exactley would this flyer say Karl? "Please dont be a total ass-hat and rip the hell out of fields cuz' you'r candy ass cant drive thru the snow"?

And another thing, I wonder how the damage done this year will afect the legislation pushing for the trails to be closed untill June 15? Does not bode well for them being open for Memorial DAy weekend I imagine.

Along these same lines:

Some guys from my club were up at Funny/Moon last weekend and cruised over to Milk Pond to check out the campground.

1. A BIG SCREW YOU to whoever left all of their trash in the campground all over the place.

2. A big THANK YOU to whoever piled it up on Saturday and wrapped it in the tarp. (Our guys didn't have anyway to carry it so they came back to see the majority of it cleaned up on Sunday and packed it all out to a dumpster)

The rangers know all about all of it. I spoke with them on labor day and walked around the whole area--looks like somebody drove over every ince of the area. But ya I can se seasonal closeures coming down the pipe...

Yeah, bad timing with the new legislation and the weather/trail conditions this year. At least it was not very crowded or the damage done would have been way worse. Imagine if all the people who were there last year had been there this year. The entire Manashtash ridge would have been deposited in car washes.

Yes, I know of you Comet, obviously not on a first name basis, but I do know of your good works. And I do/did not mean my rant as a personal attack in any way shape or form. I just get really fired up over the lackidasical attitude of people on the trails not willing to do something at the time, yet complaining about areas being shut down. And while I do think the idea has merit I really wanted to send a message to everyone else that it is not ok to rely on others in place of taking action themselves. Lack of action is the first step in loss of personal rights. Again, I do not mean to attack you personally, Comet, I just was using your post as a soapbox to hopefully get somebody to tell somebody on the trail that their harmful actions are not ok.

It's cool. Like I said, I knew what your intent was, just felt it was a little targeted at me personally.

Likewise, you don't know us. Brad, Ben, Chad, Brent, Chris, Kyle, Cody, myself and everyone else who has come here from WATTORA have very strong trail ethics. There hasn't been a SINGLE run that we haven't trucked out garbage that wasn't ours. We spend countless hours at cleanups and meetings, driving halfway across the state to be the ONLY 4x4 people at the early Naches environmental plan meetings (where were you?), taking evidence and confronting people who are misbehaving, doing everything we can to promote and preserve the sport.
Actually, I probably know more about what you guys are doing than you think. It's all about networking.
I can't be at every meeting and I've had to make choices and priorities, just like everyone else does.
