we have 2 jeeps that are linked, with tons and pretty much full body. also have 2 S-10s, mine and another full body one with 3/4 ton axles. been lookin forward to this trip for a while. anyone wanna meet us there? :drinkers:

Maaan! Windrock is awesome. Rattle Rock and Railtrail, if you still have time I've heard Baby Rock is fun and then there is Atomic Ridge if like steep and scary. ;D

Re: Windrock

yea.....we are definately goin to hit rattle rock and prolly rail trail. I think the first day we are gonna kinda take it easy and check the place out, then the next few days we will be hammer down! :woody:

It's possible to get lost for days out there, that place is HUGE!

Re: Windrock

Some of those pic are on Rattlerock. Most of them are on illegal trails. The waterfall is not a trail. There are only water crossings at Windrock. If you continue to drive down through the water, you are off the trail.

Re: Windrock

GNorton knows windrock very well, it's in his back yard.

Has that always been true? I rode a river trail there last year and I could have sworn I was following the map correctly.

How did you find a river at windrock?
It seemed like it was part of the trail. I was just following a guy that had been there many times before.

Re: Windrock

WOW what a weekend we had. The weather decided to mostly cooperate for the weekend, great temps and little rain....except for when we were on top of the freakin mountain at 10PM......
I definitely have the most carnage for the weekend.....power steering pump fitting cracked, maybe PS pump failure, hydro ram mount came loose from the ram and the tube that the mount goes on, new master cylinder is leaking, new relay for the fan failed halfway through the first day, broken front driveshaft (ujoint at t-case), some body damage on the bed and cab, prolly need to replace the front diff cover and the winch cable....I think thats it for now, I will have to look at it once I decide to clean it up real good.

I now have a new list of things to do to the truck and a new list of things I WILL have on the trail no matter what. I will go more into this later, its friggin bedtime. I have one hell of a story to tell you guys tomorrow, it will take way to long to type it out. BADASS PARK, would love to go back again! :afro:

Re: Windrock

we wheeled for several hours the first day and only got to see some really easy trails (dirt roads basically), then we found a decent trail after gettin up to the windmills and having lunch in the parking lot. drove around on what used to be considered a difficult trail, not so much now since they had did some trail maintenance, finally found a cool spot that took us pretty much straight up the mountain. The area was know as Atomic Ridge, well from that name we should have known what this trail was going to be like by the name of the area we were in. We started around 2:00pm and prolly finished the half mile trail around 8:30pm, as a huge storm was rolling in, we pretty much had to winch the entire second half to get to the top, it was nasty. On the way down the back side of the mountain we encountered some nasty vertical drop offs that were covered in slimy mud, well thats when it started to get interesting......my truck ran out of gas since the pick up is in the back of the fuel cell and we were pointed down hill, then my brakes decided to give me issues, I guess since the rotors were wet and possibly hot from trying to stop a dead truck, ended up using a tree to stop from rolling down the side of the mountain. I was blocking the trail, so the other jeep that was with us couldnt get by. so we had to walk out, it was a couple of miles in the dark with nothing more than a half dead miniture mag light and cell phones as lights. we found our way back to the trail that took us up to that hellish trail we just went up, back tracked back to the gravel road and ended up having to be picked up by the local mountain rescue team....LOL :woody: The rescue guys brought us a 5 gallon can of gas, so we could get one of the jeeps out that was at the bottom of the trail. We still had to go back to that trail to get the 2 rigs that we left on the mountain. we decided to leave them for the night and recover them in the morning, no one was going to mess with them where they were at.......got back to the hotel and showered, in bed bt 4AM....... all in all it was still a blast.
we were beat, basically we were running on a few hours of sleep that day as well, so that didnt help much.

Day 2 brought us back to the unnamed trail to do some recovery and try to get some brakes back on my rig. we got the rigs off the mountain and was back at the parking area at lunch time. had to do some work on mine, tried to get the power steering to stop leaking with some JB weld....well that didnt last, so I my pump was dripping a little less once we got to rattle rock. that trail is FAWKING badass. made it about halfway up the first part of the huge rock garden and busted the front driveshaft at the tcase, so I had to finished that part of the trail on the end of the winch and in 2WD.....thats when the ram started coming loose from the mounts on the axle. I got to the top of trail and out of the woods. once back at the trail head, noticed that my ram was leaking from the fitting, then noticed the clamp had come completely off the ram......at that point we decided to get the truck and trailer to get my rig off the road. the other 2 jeeps finished the rest of rattle rock without any issues.

all in all it was an awesome trip and cant wait to go back. :woody: :afro: thumb.gif
I will get the pics up when they are uploaded.
