What good is a broke shaft (ears) as well? Why do I feel so stupid?

I agree. I think a broke shaft is about like using a rear shaft :flipoff1: I am confused also Bones, maybe I need to get a blueprint from S&N on how to build these. Mine is actually 1.5" x .380 tubing.

Oh. I didn't think you needed the original ears. The shaft P is rockin now I thought had something weldered to both ends...

Something a couple of posts back got me thinking. If a shaft has been broken or run a long time, would it make a good drive shaft, verses a new shaft. I always think about my shafts after I have twisted the splines, and then run them the other direction, if they are as strong as new. I don't think they could be. If the shaft has been broken, it has had a huge shock put to the entire shaft. I think it would be best to buy a new 44" long side shaft and cut it down.

We arent really talking about "what's best" in this situation... more whats cheap and will work . laughing1

Ill come up with something Im not sweating it , I've been thinking about taking the egg'd out D60 inner I have and working it over ( because Its in my garage and free... )

You can always build your ultimate shaft next time :flipoff1:

I have ZERO money in the one I want to replace, It was an excercise in seeing if I could get away with a 1pc driveshaft up front. It proved to me I can and now I know what its going to take. In the mean time , Ive bought the offset 1350 I will need, and have bought the 1350 yoke for my D60 as well.

Sorry I cant just call Tom Woods and drop 400 bux, my bad :flipoff1: Beside's part of the fun for me is trying **** and making my own stuff. I enjoy it :dblthumb: I like to experiment and see what works and what doesnt work. Its a learning thing

After the first 4 failed attempts. :flipoff1:

What is left to learn? It will work, you just need stronger materials. Your current setup has some life left, so start tracking down a D44 shaft in decent shape. May cost you a little coin for a shaft in good shape, but you will have piece of mind and will not have to mess with it again.

I know , I know :wtflol:

i've got a 44 inner long side with the ears broke off that you can have. Just took it out of my buddies bronco this weekend and put chromos in. Don't know when i will be down that way anytime soon though.

He needs the ears, that is the point of the shaft. Ears will become they 1350 yoke

I did not realize the 44 axel joint and the 1350 were the same size. Guess I never really tought about it.
