Re: Random Thoughts

After a week in Mexico (work Mexico, not fun Mexico) and cancelled flights, hours waiting, overnight layover in Houston, I'm READY to be HOME

Days like today make me wanna smack a politician, **** hasn't been going my way and I just wanna smoke a bowl and listen to John Prine in the garage while I clean stuff up.

You can thank a politician for having the right to desire things. :spin:

Nothing much better, and it pays off. Mine has a full ride in college playing and she's loving it. She's 115 lb and can hit a ball well over 210,220 foot Fence. Awesome stuff

Just goes to show you, it ain't about size, it's about the cut!

That's awesome, congrats to you and her!

Mine just turned 11, she only weighs 70 pounds. She can pitch an 11 inch ball from 35 ft in the mid 40's, and she has a great change up and a nasty drop curve. She almost hit it over a 160 ft fence this weekend....the center fielder was on the fence when she caught it.

My daughter's dream is to play college softball....doesn't have to be a D1 school, just as long as she gets to keep playing after high school.

Re:

I don't do the kid thing but I sit next to people at work that do and some of the stuff they're paying for these kids it's crazy.

$350 carbon fiber bats ....$100 gloves.....driving out of state for games. ****...

Of course my $500 for a tire thing usually makes them give me the same look back. Lol

Yep, that's how it goes....but to see the passion and desire she has for the game is priceless!

All I can hope is that my son wants to go wheelin or shooting or mountain biking or hell even hiking, or something else that we could enjoy together. Not sure I could handle the watching sports thing. Even if it is my son.

I hated sports as a kid. All I wanted to do was shoot guns and ride my 4wheeler.

Re:

What i wonder is all the stories I hear of how everyone's kid is awesome at this or they're the only ones that can do this or that it makes me wonder if they really are that good or if they suck really bad and they just don't want to admit it.

From what I can remember my times in baseball basketball and football there wasn't really anyone super awesome we all just kind of did a little better than one at the other each time out and tried not to be the shitty one

Re: Random Thoughts

Yeah, there are a lot of parents out there that think their child is the greatest softball player ever and that Auburn or Alabama are gonna come offer them a scholarship tomorrow....at age 11.

But in all seriousness, my daughter is pretty dang good....but she works very hard to be the best player that she can be. In one of her recent games she had 8 of the 9 outs- 3 inning game. 6 strikeouts and 2 balls hit back at her that she caught....

Re: Random Thoughts

Yeah I can kind of guess who would be good and who wouldn't based on their job here and ethics.

When I think back of parenting and me and football I remember my dad pulling me to the side one time and Crossville and telling me if I take someone out for at least half the game he'd buy me that cool Mario watch I've been wanting.

I was a middle linebacker and I took out this Bean pole running back that had been tip toeing around all first quarter using the same play.

I got a huge rib shot on the guy and he didn't return to the game and I looked up in the crowd to my dad and started pointing at my wrist.

He said he had to make up some weird story to my mom about that's what kids do when they make good plays....just what he'd heard 8) :P

Re: Random Thoughts

Here's a good picture of her pitching last spring. She has grown a lot physically and mentally since last year.
