Hail to tha naw. 2nd shift is terrible. Hottest part of the day on the production floor around 110* in spots, take over for the stuff 1st wouldn't do, big bosses hang around and hand out bs projects, they start all the new and temp production employees on 2nd with no training on how to run their machine or send the worse ones to 2nd, and did I mention you have to work every night?

BINGO. ::)

Ah, several do it around here because we are so far from badass paying jobs. Which is why I am in no hurry to leave where I am currently. I don't make badass money, but I live very comfortably.

My best friend commutes 80 miles, hour and a half one way, 3 hour 160 mile roundtrip, 5 days a week, sometimes 6 and 7 days a week during outages. He is an Electrical Engineer but I think his job title is Nuclear Systems Engineer with TVA at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in Soddy Daisy TN, but he makes badass money for it.

With my degrees and job experience I could easily make $20-25k more than what I do now. I am not willing to sacrifice the time with my family it would take to move to the next level. I would love to have more money to tithe, build jeeps, buy stuff, etc. but I don't want it at the expense of missing my boys grow up. It is not an ambition issue, probably just the opposite. Once I got the taste of CEO money I would not stop then I would have a big house, lots of toys and a family I barely knew. I am by no means saying that everybody with money is like that, I'm just saying that I would be like that. Power goes to my head, I love seeing people succeed and winning myself so I think it is good to be in a role where I help folks get it done rather than call the shots. Just my two cents. I did the 14-16 hour days 6-7 days a week when I was your age (I'm guessing). It's cool how it changes as you get a wife and then kids. You will see thumb.gif

Re: Random Thoughts

I've always placed a greater value on my time over money. I bet I've not worked more than 100 hours of overtime in my life. I've always made it abundantly clear that I wasn't interested in OT nor would I do it on a regular basis. If something needed to be done and it took working OT once every now and then, so be it but I oils hurt their feelings if they thought it was going to be a habit. Luckily for me, I'm extremely good at what I do so it was never an issue for an employer to handle my demands.

Re: Random Thoughts

My dad used to say if you can't make a living on 40 hrs a week, you're in the wrong business. I agree, but I can make a better living with a little ot.

Mine would tell me if I did what I was suppose to during the week then I wouldn't need to work OT.

Re: Random Thoughts

I love me about 8 hours ot, tacks just enough extra on to make it worth it but still not that much extra time worked. I've worked 6 days a week about the past 7 out of 10 weeks, Last night was my last weekend working for a while, on a stretch of 40 hr weeks now. Little easier livin' lol.

Re:

**** I haven't consistently worked 40 hr weeks since we finished up the last batch of machines back last August. Average 35/week.

When we're busy with 3-4 machines in process and I'm working 40-45 I feel rich lol

Fawking Kildeer! Most annoying son of bitches in the world! They like to party in my yard about 3 or 4am when I am trying to sleep. Loud mf'rs, can hear em over the tv at times. Supposedly a protected species not supposed to be shot.....but I may or may not have a couple hours before work at the moment with a loaded 12 ga...and they are nowhere to be found. It's like they know Im looking for em. Shot two after class a couple weeks ago and ain't been able to catch anymore out during the day since. ****in little shits.

My wife was attacked by one. I could not come to her rescue because I was laughing to hard. She started it.

Re: Random Thoughts

Killdeer are pretty freakin cool minus the noise they make. They are a ground nester. In the middle of the summer when mom lays eggs, she will stay motionless while you walk by, if you get too close she'll haul ass away from her nest then fall over like she's drunk. She will puff up her tummy feathers and lay on her side. Then make noises like she's hurt. So you immediately walk her direction. She'll shoot up and run another 15ft and do it all over again to distract you from her nest of eggs.

Pretty cool to experience what she's doing.

Anyway grab 3 or 4 rubber snakes from the dollar tree. As real looking as you can find. Scatter them in the yard. They will nest somewhere else this year. No worries

Re: Random Thoughts

Nissan DIG TR seems like an awesome platform for space and weight. Bet it costs a pretty penny though.
