You have me wondering, what's not to like for a day on the trail?

Heat and noise and more noise.

I am not sure that is the one he is building for KOH for sure. I was talking to a friend of his the other day and he was the one telling me about them building the 2 identical cars in 3 weeks. Those guys are rabid.

That kind of reminds me of my own rig. :( On obstacles it's fun to hear my motor bounce off the rev limiter or just generally work hard. Everywhere else I wish it sounded like a sewing machine.

FWIW, I intended to quote you but I think I might have reported you to the moderator. You're in big trouble now! laughing

I love Jim's Garage stuff, as I am in line to have one built later this year. I guess what sold me was Bigwoody's rig, it is everything I want out of a buggy. TJ based, light, low, simple and nicely done. Wyatt's rig is real close to a dream rig for me also. That said Jim's design borrows a lot from TC, and I have yet to find anybody that does not like their product. The campbell rigs are sick, he is best in the biz in my books. The uniqueness and speed with which he builds blows my mind.

This would be my choice to copy. thumb.gif

I know what Nolens saying. Matt you are going the right route. Build a buggy to fit you. I can't wait for the day (hopefully next winter) to stretch mine. My legs were still sore on Thursday from last Saturday's Baja style running. In mine, upperbody is perfect fit, legs though are kinda cramped. Would be perfect for a 5' 9"-10" guy, or 5 minute runs in XRRA. :flipoff1:

And Nolen answer me this, maybe you know maybe you dont. But I see on Pbb all the Maxxis CC love, and most is by racers. That said, why is Twisted, Campbells, etc, and everyone it seems out west still running BFG's and building with BFG's. Are they just that in bed with BFG to go that route? I like my tires, but I feel like the cow in the pasture where the grass is always greener on the otherside.

I thought of another rig, I love the fab on, its the subframed, PolyPerformance one thats getting built for the past 18 months or so. Dont remember the guys name on pirate.

Nolen, Shannon and TC run BFG's because they get them for free. Same reason the big name Maxxis drivers run them, 12-13 free tires per season.

The Krawlers grip better, esp when it's dry, but the sidewalls SUCK A$$. Greg has fawked up at least 5 of them, 2 at the last dixe run. (they will run all the way across trail 1 and down hanging dog rd and still stay on the no-beadlocked side of the wheel going pretty fast) The creppy crawlers have a much stronger sidewall, but dont stick to rocks as well. Suposedly only a few people have put holes in them. I'd say for EC trail riding/racing Maxxis is the way to go.

If you watch this from about 8:30 on you can see a flat Krawler lower 2 assult.

Here's another one that lead to other busted stuff. Both were fun as hell free rides for me.

jim and have each had 3 sets and neither of us have cut a Krawler. That said, we dont do a lot of high wheelspeed flogging or high speed racing. Add a lot of unsprung weight and that kills Krawlers.

My buddy Tom has killed 3 CCs and Trent 2. All doing the above. If I were rock racing or bouncing, I would look into it, but at $100 more per tire, I dont think I am ready to move over.

Now the day they release the comp 40 Trepador here in the US, I will switch. Wyatt, I would love to buy your 37s. I am thinking of stepping back to 37s when I wheel some places just to up the difficulty. Let me know.

Nothing hooks up like a 1/2 worn out Krawler though....

I'm starting to think that if some of the tires are on dirt and some are on rocks (common all over the east coast) that trepadors are even better.

I have only wheeled with one rig running them and I too was impressed.

Wyatt needs to sell me his......

That is one think I like about my little 4.3L Vortec that it really doesn't make much noise till you get on it and then it has a nice growl. I wheel with some guys that are just loud all day long. Even when their rig is turned off. :flipper:

That was a nice balance between growl and quiet. I think my problem is as much the radiator fans behind the seats moving air and making noise as it is the motor. It's not if you're 15' away but from the driver's seat it's kind of difficult to have a conversation while your moving.

I was talking to a couple of guys this weekend about the trepadors, and think they said you can get them or atleast they had the hookup. I am in need of some good gription in a bad way, just can't make up my mind. I have ruled out krawlers although they are my lust rubber. Seems like the more I wait more choices for tire are becoming available.
