Ricky and I talked about this some at the meeting, but our forums are really taking off. We have 164 members and we are getting some very diverse groups involved. The TN guys, BigWoody's Crew, Off Camber in GA, etc. I think the forums have some real potential to turn into a mini-PBB for the Southeast.

My question is what can we do to drive new members and promote participation from the ones we have? Paul/Kelly are great with tech articles and that really drives new visitors, we need more of it! I think it would also be nice to seperate the Chit-Chat stuff from the 4x4 Related Stuff. The General section gets a ton of useless stuff in it and for non-regular members it is hard to weed through it all. Do we need more boards focused on different topic areas? Lets get some ideas and see how we can improve the site to keep driving the right kind of new members!!!

Its doing great, leave it alone for now.

There is a 4x4 section and there is a general section, simple is better IMO.

I agree there is alot of potential floating around here. Need to LET folks be more involved with forum related swag, they want it we can use profit off of it for club or site expenses as well thumb.gif

We really really need to do the "hardlineforums.com" thing if you ask me. That way we can do hardlineforums.com stuff, stickers, shirts, etc. It wouldn't be but like 10 bucks a year to set up another domain and CNAME/redirect to it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 4x4 chit chat and a general chitchat myself.

How can we differentiate the logos for members vs nons without recreating the wheel. I agree Ricky we should have a General 4x4 and Chit Chat seperate. There is too much dumb crap that fills up the General 4x4 section

I don't think we need to a different logo at all. Justmake sure one is hardline FORUM and the other is hardline CRAWLER (maybe add "member" to that)

Would anyone have a problem with making a poll in our general discussion about spliting Discussion into "4x4 Discussion" and "ChitChat"?

I agree. So create a 4x4 Discussion forum and change our current "Discussion" to "Chit Chat"? I think it'd be easier to move all the 4x4 posts rather than all the chitchat crap.

You think laughing

Well done dummasses.. laughing

I think you should get all the clubs opinion as well, wasnt that the point of starting a "new" club was to get everyone involved, yea it may take a minute to make a phone call to a couple guys but at least everyone does get to put thier opinion in. This has been happening a fair amount lately, and if I can use something small like "the new forum layout" as an example then thats the simple way to point it out.

SIMPLE is better, we dont need to be PBB all over again with a million different sections of redundancy .

If your gonna take a poll or make a change, then run it by CLUB MEMBERS first. Pretty simple.

( Im not pissy, just tryin to make a point.... )

If they don't check the boards then I don't feel bad. I don't have time to call all of them and it should not be expected. The boards are a place for the club members to have discussions and make decisions, too bad only 4-5 members actually participate on the boards

Thats no reason to punish or exclude members. Not everyone has the capacity or freedom to be online daily . In this case, there was no rush needed to make a decision either. Just my .02

Lets not forget these are friends just as much as members, **** Ill call them if it needs to happen that way.

Is it really this big a deal? Half the club rarely ever get on these boards, and having to call everyone about something that half of them don't even use is kinda silly IMO. Ricky was ready to go, which is rare cause he always has stuff going on, so I told him to go for it. It will work better/easier long term and people will forget there use to be only one forum.

I do not think we need additional boards. This entire place is Chit-Chat at one point or another in every thread.

Less is best. I also agreed with P, it should have been run by everyone at the meeting.

The forum getting split up is not a big deal at all, Im more concerned with the manner it was handled it was just fast and not discussed when there was no reason for it to be done right now in one day yesterday.

Later down the road, for example say we need a fast decision on something time critical... Ill make calls and get input if its needed, but lets not leave members out on stuff cause they didnt get online in a days time.

Thats all Im getting at.

I am not saying we would discuss a MAJOR issue without talking about it at a meeting. But at that, what happens if we discuss a new member or major event and you don't show at a meeting? Nobody calls them to ask, it is treated as you have to be there to throw in your opinion. This is a minute issue that affects a handful of members that are active on the board.

New member has to be voted on by everyone... thats simple and has nothing to do with meeting attendance at all. We all voted and discussed it when John G got voted in, we all will continue to do that on the next situation.

Do we need to write up club bylaws and get everything specified and detailed ? ( I think we kinda had a post on this Ill have to research it though.. )

Don't remember by-laws ever discussed. I have written them in college and will never do it again. If you want to do it then have at it.
