Well I hope you guys enjoyed the 8.1 because it looks like it will be a while before anyone see's it again. Something came apart in the Bottom end today. :o Really sucks because I wasn't even beating on it. I was Crawling.
Gonna drop the oil pan tomorrow and see what goin on. Depending on how bad it is it may be a while before it gets fixed.

Damnit boy, that sucks. I had not even had a chance to witness you beating on it like a pimp beating a crack hoe...

You have metal pieces that look like c's that go between the rods and crank, and the crank and main caps. They are supposed to stay put ,but sometimes if the rod starts to distort (high rpms) that bearing will spin. The bearings have holes in them for oiling that line up with the rods or crank. If they spin that hole is blocked. No oil will cause heat and friction.Something will end up giving like the rod egging. Hence your knocking.Or i could be totally wrong and it could be something completely diffrent. dunno

Oh and if they spin enough they can stack on top of each other. Im retarded I went all into spinning a bearing and didnt even say anything about stacking one. ::)

thats sucks man i hope it's something easy keep us posted

Me to, I would feel better about it had I been beating the piss out of it, but I was just crawling straight up the middle of Ugly.

Thanks for the explanation Neal.

i have had bottom end knock with two different motors. one was a spun bearing the other was not. the one that was not spun just had some play in the bearing put a new bearing in and ran it for another year with out any problems. the other one that spun ended up messing up the crank.
good luck with it. sounds like you caught it pretty quick and weren't getting on it so it might not be that bad.

But all that beating on it before had NOTHING to do with it :o

Keep us informed maybe we could all pitch in with donations because it is so much fun to watch you.. Entertainment value is High
with any luch at all it will be something simple hope so

I think you might be on the same path I'm on, I am on my fourth motor, and thinking I need another. Hopefully it's something simple and you can just replace some bearings, at most a rod or two.

X2 Jerk pan then youll know if ya need to be worried or not.

EDIT: how much you need to be worried... it still needs work regardless.

Well we didn't even have to drop the pan. Just pulled out the spark plugs and the last one we pulled out was mangled up. You could look threw the opening and see the Piston mangled up and hung up in the cylinder. So far it looks like Im gonna need 1 piston, rod, sleeve, and gonna try and tear down the motor tomorrow to see what else I need.
Looks like my jeep may be sitting for a while. Back to the Rhino
