How are people mouting the ram to the tie rod, obviously cant weld steel tabs to it. Tube clamp?
Thats how mine is. It is one of those Ballistic Clamps, that the tie rod was turned down a bit to accept, then the mount is welded to it.
I will get pictures to show tomorrow.

Usually just half a turn.

Depends on oribtal so kind of hard to say usually. SE will self center if setup right but not as well as a DE. SE don't self center as well due to the fact that they use different pressures to push and pull where a DE ram will take the same pressure to go to either side. Not really a big deal just some more info.

I thought returning to center had to do with the type of orbital, is that wrong. I know my buddies rig with a PCS DE ram doesnt return very well, it takes some persuasion, its a PSC orbital too.

His toe-in could be set improperly causing this.
My DE PSC set-up returns to center pretty good, but I like the packaging of the SE ram.

As promised. Here is how my single ended ram is mounted.
Some of the pics are my front, and some are of my rearsteer axle. They are identical in setup. 2" 7075 rod, turned down to accpet a Ballistic Tube clamp. Everything is then welded to the tube clamp.

HOLY ****ING ****, how did I never see that before! the support plate from your tube clamp goes over the bolt and "pivots" on it? I guess I don't see what that's accomplishing unless he did it for alignment (cylinder doesn't roll the rod when you go from right to left tension) that is semi hoaky with that nut above there just snug or less and the plate just floating on the bolt trashing the thread.
on a SE ram that goes to the rod, how do you keep the rod perfectly flat all the time and keep the cylinder from making it do barrel rolls normally?

btw, I used ram and rod in teh same sentence. say it, ramrod

You can also check with Buggymike over at caos4x4.We've been running his double ended cylinders for over three years. We swapped the 8" in for 9" and then for 10".I think the first ram we used is still on another buggy. We've had O problems from them.He builds them out of steel and they mount very easy.(pics if needed)Adam has beat the RAW(not filtered) sh==t out them too.I don't know what he gets for one now but they are deigned to rebuild in a matter of secounds,O rings only.If it helps any.

Wyatt one thing I would fix is the tiny ass rams. You cannot be getting much force with that setup. Rod is tiny and the bore looks like 2" or maybe less. Looks like a ram for assist not full hydro

Matt, thats a 2.5 x 10" cylinder SON with a 1" ram!

They look small in those pics maybe it is the cheasy femaile threaded heims that make em look small
