• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

The Crash Clan

Ok I got kyles body stripped and threw some paint on it. Did a similar paint scheme except I changed the paint lines. Kyle loved it...

So I went and got both kids rigs dialed in (program the ESC, adjusted dig and steering servo's) and they are ready to rock....

Now just mine to finish

How about some details of the shock cap mod? I was told about folks doing this but have not seen it untill now. I went all through this thread and they just popped back on that way, howed you do it?:redneck:

Ok so I ripped my axles apart and threw in the RCP goodies so the axles are as strong as you can get.

So next was to dial mine in/play with the new radio. After some reading and adjusting I was able to make the rig move!!!!! So now all 3 rigs sit ready to go play with..

Shock cap mod?

Shock cap mod?

some pics have aluminum threaded caps on top. All my aluminum shocks dont have a rod end on top. I have to use rubber hose as a shock bushing in the caps. I have INTEGY crawler shocks and they have metal rod ends that pop apart easily. All the rest of my shocks are from nitro rigs. I was talking to geano at covington and he was telling me guys were screwing traxxas rodends to thier shocks for a tighter fit. I thought it was kinda hoaky:redneck:

yours appear to have a nice plastic and metal rod end grafted into the end very cleanly.:awesomework: I like that. I dont see how they attach?:eeek:

Did you modifiy them or change them out for new shocks of the same color?

Naturally, Dad's got the biggest Tahrs!!!:redneck: All look great Mike!!!:awesomework:

I did my homework after kyle got his first rig--and had simular shocks to what you have. So thats why I buy these ones now.

And they make them in 4 3/8" and 5" lengths.

I looked to see if you can get the caps with rod end seperately but I havent found those parts seperately yet...

mikes caps are definetly alot cleaner then modifying an existing cap but on pretty much any cap you can cut the mount off the top, drill a hole in the center run a screw through the cap and then thread on whatever rod-end you want. Since they all come with rubber seals there's no worry of it having to be air tight.

But the shocks Mike is running are a lot cleaner and probably stronger then modifing a shock.

Adding a rodend is exactly what geano was talkin about. I just didnt like the idea of adding length to my shocks, plus it would look kinda hoaky even if it worked well.

I dont think this mod would work on my reservior shocks. The cap is weird shaped and has an oil/air passage in it.

Thanks guys for the info:cool:
