The Reiter build thread

I don't think any of us (well not all of us) want all of the trails at the new Reiter to be extreme like that but I think super duper hard core EBP guys like $$ should get some of the trails they like too.:awesomework:
Heck think of it this way. The OM would be more than enough to keep those hard core guys happy and it was only what, a half mile long? I bet if we all got our half mile the less hardcore guys wouldn't be happy with that.:;

I would love to see something like what the OM is/was in the new Reiter...I watched Rick and Mauler (along with a couple others) in the first real obstacle...It's fun to watch for sure...:cool: Me in there in my Sami:redneck: (I still remember Jeff asking me "You're not seriously considering running this trail are you???":haha:---forget it---> but hey, that's what diversity's all about!!!
 
And thats where the idea of bypass's for hard obstacles. This lets you do a number of things. You can build a trail that can have multiple levels of dificulty on the same trail. When there is a backup for a hard obstacle you have a way to go around it. When rigs are broken its easier to remove them from the trail system.

I have always liked this concept.
 
I don't necessarily agree that there should be a go around at EVERY obstacle, but it does help to lessen congestion:awesomework:...I believe there should be a few trails that if your not 'equipped', you shouldn't run it. Heck, Charlie posted up a map that has that---albeit it doesn't give what actual terrain is there, but I'm guessin' it's somewhat similar to what's avail at Reiter...:;

Don't get me wrong I would love a good hard trail--I was just being realistic...

Also something else to add to that and I know alot of us have seen this over the years with aggressive trails. Quite often we see many a folks who simply don't belong on those trails--they go, they get into trouble and typicly cause more damage than anything. With a setup like I stated you can greatly reduce that IMO...

This is true, it does help reduce damage in the long run...even with that however, the harder lines will still 'evolve'....look at what the v-crack has done, and even the rockface for that matter in the last yr...but that's also partly due to a massive and abundant influx of users...

I do like the idea of the map that was posted where the trails of more difficulty are shorter between easer exit routes. Also it makes for more trail terrain options of degree of difficulty . If a trail of difficulty are only 300 to 500 ft long, extraction would be easier, also would let other users the ability to see if there is a problem in the trail before entering. It would also allow for flow of users that are traveling at different speeds to pick a alternative route without causing damage or possible creation of new trails.

Also it would allow more mileage of trail at the start and as funds become available trails difficulty could be raised one trail at a time.

Good points. Lots of short trails are sometimes nice. The down side is it makes it more of a spectator sport when some just want to be out in the woods for the peace and quiet and less people.

True it does take more space--but I think for something to be more of a success we need to look at what history has taught us. Not only in the old reiter but other ORV parks in this state.

Very difficult trails need a bypass on nasty sections.
Even if the trail is rated.. eleventy billion black diamond, some jack ass in a stock jeep with open diffs and 31's will try it.. when they cant make it they WILL make their own bypass.

better to make a legal one, than to have a bunch of bootleg ones.

I think long trails are a good idea but with turn outs for if something happens to your rug you aren

Thought I would have some fun tonight and see what every one can come up with as far as a trail design. This is section 1 and it has about 175 acres of usable area. The key is on the map for what is marked on the map. Let's see some ideas. How creative can you be

I can't really tell from the map but will the "Bonus Line" area be in the 4x4 area according to these prilliminary maps? That area had HUGE potential, would be awesome to get some of that area back.
