Time to play with the big kids.

Sorry been slacking on the updates, Wife, kids, work, wife's sister's wedding stuff, Birthday's and more work has been getting in the way.

Rear diff housing has been stuffed with an ARB and 5.38 gears, and am working on the front diff now. The real lower links have been machined and the skins are 99% done just need to finish off the lower cowl section. I'll have some new pics up this weekend.

Hopefully sooner but my time out in the shop has been short the last couple weeks. Wife's sister has some wedding thing almost every 3 days my wife needs to attend and help with... which means I am on kid duty.


It easier to go along with it than pay the lawyer for the divorce...she keeps giving me the evil eye when i start questioning why she needs to be there for her dress fitting or to pick out cutlery or....:puke:

you are getting close man, i'll bet your itching huh? I finally got a buggy started, not quite as far as you are but i hope to be done before the season is over.

Yep the 3 kids keeping me and the wife pretty busy...that and work has been busy.

I spent the day visiting Sarg yesterday, I haven't seen his buggy in its new form so it was cool to check it out and get some more ideas on how to finish some stuff up on mine. I also got my new tow rig situation worked out :cool:

I've been doing the little things, Machined up retainers for my rear semifloat ends that fully capture the bearing and take up the space were the drum brake backing plate would normally sit so you can actually torque the bolts properly. I also machined up spacers so I could mount the D44 rotors on the rear axles. I was going to use caphead 2" x 1/2" fine thread bolts for my rear studs, but after messing around I wasn't happy with how much thread stuck out for the wheel lugs. I ended up buying some Morroso high strength Wheel stud cap screws that were 3" long giving me plenty of thread for the lugnuts. I just need to add a suck down rope pulley and finish making mounts for the lines and the rear diff is done. :awesomework:

I also found some ARP wheel studs for my front wheel hubs that have a large enough and long enough knurl to go through the brake rotor (I may even need to drill it out a bit more). They were pricey but I'm much happier know being able to see the threads stick past the lug nut vs not even flush with the Napa studs I was going to run. Not sure why I was worried about it just something thats stuck in my head since highschool drag racing and needing to have open lug nuts and longer studs to pass tech at the local track.


Well out to the shop to try and get the front diff back under the truck so I can work on the steering. :beer:

Rear brakes all setup except for the lines, and still waiting for the rear suckdown pulley my buddy was spinning up on his lathe for me.

Front diff is almost all done, just needs a few more gussets and the steering ram mount made.

I preheated the diff and used the 99Ni arc welding rods to scab all the plate onto the center chunk, then peened the hell out of it and let it slow cool over night in the powdercoating oven at my Dad's shop. Not to impressed with the "look" of the arc welding but its beefy. I did a lot of rossete welds through the plates.

When I moved the links in towards the center for more tire clearance I ended up having the passenger mount 1/2 way onto the cast. I didn't trust it so today I reworked the outer tabs to take the stress off the inner tab, and finished welding up everything I could on the front diff.

your daughter is Awesome, she'll be walking before you know it, my daughter is almost 14 months, and is already a handful of trouble. Oh, your progress looks good too. I know how the fam can slow things up, but it's always worth it. :D
 
Someone parked a lowrider in my shop it can actually be rolled around Tires don't have valve cores in them so they are flat.

Just some random pics of were it sits right now. I threw the front knuckles,some of the brakes (still modifying my brackets a bit) so i can work on getting the steering built. I'm going with a behind the axle mounted SE 9"x2.25" bore ram, PSC custom made for me. Its the same ram Twisted Customs uses on there 50 deg spidertrax stuff and is also what Sarg is running on his car.
