Trailer thoughts....f'in conundrum....

Wyatt, do you neeeeed 7K axles and brakes on both for that little buggy? I imagine you are unlike me and will use it for a lot more things since you have too many hobbies, cars, parts, parts cars, etc. IIRC my new 18' PJ was 1500, but that was what 4 years ago? Truck trailer and Hitch in KC has good deals...or at least did.
 
Good call Bones. No way do I need 7k axles for for this little buggy. But as you have seen I have this 7500lb monstrosity of a 1930 Cadillac in my garage that belongs to my father. I am 100% sure that whatever trailer i get will also need to be able to accommodate that thing. As well as haul a Uniloader or fat chicks home from the bar.
 
**** I wish I could get away with a 3k axle regular light weight car hauler with the Race box on the front. **** would be so much easier.
 
Just for sample....this is the trailer I lusted over and almost bought....it sold :(


24 foot shadow by Pace American. Easy assit rear door for loading and unloading.
Torsioned axles with brakes on both, set up for wght. transfer style hitch ($200 extra) tool boxes inside with d-Rings all over the floor. HVAC and complete power setup, plug in to a 110 or have a generator on standby which all connects to front of trailer. Plenty of lights and everything works, 4 spare wheels and tires and in great shape. I think its a 1998 model trailer. God bless

Hey, brick can be painted too Bones!

I got my 22' on eBay... I previously had a 30' 21k triple axle and found someone with the 22' I wanted... negotiated a swap straight up. It's a 2000 P&J Trailer 22' 14k g/n.

(the 30' was a home built w/o title or VIN in which I had $3600, traded with a farmer from the valley... good for both parties... he got a big, heavy trailer and I got a $4700 VIN'd trailer I could easily register)
 
Enclosed is nice. I'd go gooseneck enclosed, throw a mattress up top of the goose and there u go... But that's just me :flipoff1:

Shop in Oklahoma. We bought our 32 foot steel rail deck goosneck in Oklahoma for $3200 3 years old. There's good deals to be had in Oklahoma. Several friends have made the drive to OK as well to pick up trailers for CHEAP.
 
Wyatt if you need me to check prices on a trailer in AL let me know. The guys I used are CHEAP and build to spec
 
Wyatt I know this may be an odd question, but are the seats cloth?? If so..... Think about if you're ever driving through the rain... or hell, just day to day do you want those seats getting rained on if you leave the trailer loaded???
 
So I went and looked at trailers last night. If I didn't have a lifted truck, I probably would consider springing for a huge enclosed g/n, even with the $$$'s
And I'm not ready to get a new truck. I want a new dually, but not going to happen.

What I looked at, PJ trailers gooseneck, 22' lowdeck, and a 22' lowdeck with 16'tilt. But I'd have to order one cause I need a 6" extra riser in the neck to clear my lifted truck. Lets call it $4500 out the door on one of those. Great trailer which I'd have forever if I didn't think I had an enclosed in my future.

I also looked at a couple sick, absolutely sick enclosed's, all bumperpulls. $13k gets ya started there. But damn they were bangin! Dude gave me an interiors brochure, its like trailer porn. Freakin' polished aluminum everywhere and sick ass cabinets, and tool trays, and blah, blah, squirt, squirt.


Now to step back and look at it. I may actually go the Kelly route. Buy a cheap used 16-18' bumper pull, and run it until I get a new truck, and then upgrade to a G/N enclosed with a living quarters (I use that loosely) in the front. That way the wife and kids got a place to not be "Roughing" it. Took the wife camping at the dunes in Waynoka, Ok, and she's not a tent person.

So I still don't know what the **** I'm going to do, but at least now I have defined my options.



And Rob yes they are cloth, and since I already wear diapers.....wet seats suck ass.
 
Ya man buy a decent cheaper bumper pull for a couple years and then buy the bling enclosed when you get the new truck, and you will still have the bumber pull for the cars and short day trips ;)
 
Ok, so I'm going to go the bumper pull route.
I was thinking I wanted to go light and get a Featherlite or Tommy but **** those things are high dollar!!! Like double the cost of a steel trailer. However at 1500lbs for a 20' trailer, that is sick. For my buggy and trailer would be under 4500lbs. WOW! That would pull nicely. Just dreaming though.

so are you saying you are scared to pull 6-7K with a dmax? also why are you needing a raised tongue- blow the money on the adjustable reciever so you dont have to have a hard time trying to resale later down the road and hope you find someone looking JUST for a trailer for their lifted truck. i could probably find you a decent one here for around $12-15K. you could buy it now and have it ready for when you come up and haul it back
