Turbo or Supercharger?

You don't think a SC makes heat?

On my motor the A/C is right below where the SC would mount, so no. The A/C will keep it cool.

I mean, think about it, a turbo is right next to the exhaust usually, while the SC is near the intake, of cool air.....:redneck:

The intake air charge is heated mostly by being compressed. That's why they invented intercoolers.

Ac has a hot side and a cool side.It builds heat to.:awesomework:

Turbo's are better, supercharger's are for guy's like tim57 that are stuck in the past. that is all

Somebody call all the auto manufacturer's of the world, seeing as how 95% of them use turbo's from the factory over supercharger's, there's a lot of confused engineer's out there.:haha:

I am not knocking your point, but I wouldn't use this particular argument, either. Just look at all the dumb **** auto manufacturers do...

Ex: IFS, IRS, step bars on a stock Explorer/TrailBlazer, Tire air pressure sensors on a 4x4.....

if you dont have enough money for your own enigeneers, just get a big ass supercharger. done deal.

my pops ran a jimmy blower for years, 12% overdriven. no boost gauge. 1, just good bottom end, 2, bolt it on, 3, put a carb on it, 4, burnout!

blower, belt, intake manifold. thats it. **** even my buddies rhino is supercharged! simple and easy.

sometimes the past is killer compared to the future.:cheer:

just watch the fast&furius, after playing with rice rocket turbo cars, they bring out some MUSCLE. that charger would be gay if it had a turbo.

it just sucks the import guys have kinda ruined it. many guys with a lot of money and V8 power wont run a turbo cuz, "THATS TUNER GEEK ****".

and this is just me, but I hate the tuner fags that run around and love to hear that stupid pop off. vroom, vroom, PFFFFFTTTTT, vroom, vroom, PFFFFTTTT! now you hear it all over the dunes with the gain in populaity of efi turbo rails.

Yup,stuck in the past with my poor old leaf spring truck, and 1200 hp motor...:kissmybutt: You are this butt hurt because someone called you out on a idiot reference to something you know very little about?I bet your real fun to have around the shop:stirpot: :looser:

oh go put some pants on:haha: :haha:

just kidding:hi:

Not butt hurt in the least, there's 10 trillion guy's out there to put together a 1200 horse big block. How many guy's can build a good 1200 horse turbo motor? a little afraid to step into the future? How many 1000hp+ blown v8's drive to the track and back home?

Anyway's this thread is about what people's opinion's are about turbo vs super on his 4 cylinder jetta. I am far from a whiz in the big motor world, but as far as this convo goes I know enough to put in an opinion.

Come hang out in my world (shop wise) you'll learn a thing or two:rolleyes:

SC or Turbo? Boost is boost as far as your situation is concerned. In either case you'll blow the rods out or the head gaskets. Neither is better for a stock 4 cylinder. Get a bottle and get it over with on the cheap.
I've been tinkering with an Eaton M90 SC setup (10psi max.) on a 4.2 Ford V6 for a buggy project. The better low rpm torque curve with a Roots blower is what determined this setup. Top end HP will not be what it would be with a turbo.

you have a terrible argument.. remember, you are less then 1% of the buyers for anything you are bitching about. They are sold as road cars, IFS/IRS rides WAY better. And air pressure sensors? We're talking SUV's here, remember? Mom's feel safer in them, and that is a safety feature. Steps? yeup, you guessed it.

using, or switching to turbo is another selling point. Again, makes money for the manufacturers.

It's funny you think the rods/head gasket are just going to disinegrate on startup:haha: I have seen more blow up on less:haha: :haha: :haha:

Talking with people tonight about this subject...

I think part of the point i am trying to make, playing devil's advocate with this, is that the the SC CAN make the same torque with LESS horsepower, QUICKER than a turbo can. Doesn't mean it can make MORE, just saying that it CAN make it with LESS hp. And yes rally/road/mall/drag driving situations can all have different advantages to either... not saying BOTH are good for ALL, just saying some will stand out in performance over another.

(and the whole, "...because the SC is closer to the A/C pump it runs cooler" thing..... I can't believe some of you fell for that.:fawkdancesmiley: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: )

plenty, look at the supra's, there is prolly about 11 trillion of those in japan alone:fawkdancesmiley: :haha:

a little afraid to step into the future?

Why step into the future if it works?:eeek: Too afraid to stick with something that's tried and true?:eeek: :corn:

How many 1000hp+ blown v8's drive to the track and back home?

How many 1000hp turbo dragsters do you see drive home after a day at the track?:eeek: This kinda steps into the whole buggy vs full body thread stuff, what you're saying is you aren't hardcore unless you drive to the trail and then drive home:hi:

Oh, and it's a golf....not a jetta, I don't drive a toyota.:;

I just read this whole stupid ****ing thread...

I think I'm dumber for having read it,,,

Yep, definitely dumber...

That is all...

You obviously missed my point. This thread is now dumb anyway's:masturbanana[1]:

What point were you trying to prove?:eeek: *goes back to review the play*

(don't tell anyone this, but, I'm prolly gonna do a turbo...):fawkdancesmiley: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

I think there were some pretty good points that were made in this thread.

A lot of turbo bashing though...:eeek: And not a lot of SC facts, all assumptions and false text...
