Two week notice?

Yeah man give the two weeks, and be nice about it as you possibly can. You never know when you'll cross paths again, hell you might need his help one day or he might need yours. High road is the right way to go. But he's probably gonna tell you to get the F out, so just smile and go home and enjoy the two weeks off. And don't worry about the money part just cut back a little bit me you'll be just fine. Good luck with the new job, hope it works out great for you

Re:

My stance about the crossing paths is that if the guy is that big of a ****, I will never put myself in a situation where I would ever have to depend on him for anything. You just don't need some people in your life....and after being such a huge **** about you and your wife's doctor's appointments, **** that guy. Mark him off your list. Continue to do better for yourself so if y'all were to "cross paths" you can be like "look at me now, you ****." There's too many workplaces out there where you do not have to listen to an ego tripping douche nozzle bark orders. Again I reference, **** that guy.

I agree on giving the notice.

It's not the douche bag boss that you worry about pissing off in these situations, it's the co-worker that might leave there, get a better position in another company that you might run across again one day. I know in the Machine Shop industry, you cross paths with folks years down the road at another shop. If that co-worker remembers the day you said F off and walk out, he very well might hinder you getting a job at another shop.

Luke, we've known each other for quite a spell now, and you know if I worked there and that **** knuckle said that **** to me, I would have folded that mother ****er in half. Rachel is an honest to goodness straight up chick, one of the greatest wives out there, and knowing what you two have gone through, SHE doesn't deserve to be talked about in that manner. **** that guy, give 2 weeks (because you KNOW he'll give you the ol' GTFO), collect that last check and don't look back. Tell all your friends and potential customers what a ****tard he is (because anybody can hurt a man physically, hurt his pockets) and go on with your life. You don't deserve that and Rachel sure as **** doesn't either.

I still feel that you should give the 2 weeks regardless of how he/she treated you. Christians preach of turning the other cheek and doing whats right. Do it. Its never easy to do whats right, but it does feel good to do so.

Doing whats right is standing up for yourself and your family not turning the other cheek. Just my .02

At my last job I didn't give a notice. I waited until all my vacation time was paid and told them I was done. The boss is a complete tool, 4 people quit the week before and all of them gave a notice. He sent everyone of them packing. I decided to not even give him the option. Sounds like a bad work environment. Get your pay check and cut ties with this jerk. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, enjoy the time off. Sometimes you have to just do what's best for you.

I appreciate that a lot man. It's been a tough year to say the least. We're definitely looking forward to moving on past all of this.

As for other employees down the road, there are a total of 7 employees there. Two owners, one owners son, one secretary that's blowing boss(that has me do all of her work), and two warehouse guys that I'm in charge of(except they both received larger Christmas bonus than I did because "they haven't been taking time off".) oh, and myself.

I will probably put in my notice this coming Tuesday. Might video it for all to enjoy his douche baggedness.

I just went through this literally last month. Got a new job debated turning in two weeks notice because I couldn't start the new job until the 7th and the company I worked for was bad about letting you go right after you turned your notice in. I turned one in but had side work lined up. The only reason I did was because I felt it was the right thing to do and made me feel better as a man. It had nothing to do with the company I was leaving them **** them it was all to do with my personal convictions. Trust me I would love to walked in the bosses office drop my pants and **** on his desk then walk out.

How many of you do gooders have gotten a two week notice before getting fired? Business is business if somebody treats you bad they obviously don't appreciate your contributions so do business elsewhere! That goes for consumer or producer!

The last place I worked was alot like this. I did give a notice and worked it out but only because of the friendship I have with a couple of coworkers that I have a ton of respect for. I didn't want to screw them. You have to do what is best for you, and those around you.

Give the notice I worked for a guy that was a total asshole gave the notice then 5 years down the road he was hired in as a manager at company I worked for

A lot of good points made both for and against giving notice. Sounds like with an asshole like this guy, they will tell you to walk anyway. I've never been (imo of course) a **** boss like you have, but I've never not gotten a 2 week notice. I will say though that at our place when someone leaves without notice, we have an internal form that gets marked "not eligible for rehire". I'm not saying you'd ever go back to work at your current employer, but it's something to think about. That being said my "professional side" says give notice.

Knowing the story though, I'd personally have a real struggle telling him anything other than **** off.

Let us know what happens and good luck on the new job!!

I appreciate it. This company is privately owned and the owners have a very firm belief of "you have one shot here". Nobody has ever been rehired once they've left. No matter what. Doesn't matter if your kin or not.

Put in my notice today. I met in the middle and gave a one week. He took it well, mainly because he doesn't have to pay me for the holidays. I look forward to doing some much needed wheeling during my little break between jobs.

Re:

Awesome man, good luck on your new venture. Always make moves that carry you forward. You don't want to work for cocksuckers like the folks you work for now forever. Too many opportunities abroad that offer much better work environment and benefits. I hope it works out great for you, chief!

Good deal on the way out the door put a banana in his tail pipe and remove all the valve cores out of his valve stem's :flipgotcha:

Don't tempt me. There's a '29 ford, 69 Chevelle , 70 nova, and a 67 corvette hiding in the back of the warehouse. If I wasn't such a gear head I would consider it. Just can't do that to an innocent car.
