Who wants to race the 2008 Baja?

War...7s a lil more but as I said b-4 get a used one and fix it ...build cost are astronomical.

I'll give you an example...in 91 they started "full stock" call it 8s

I started with an ex Navy 1965 ford f100 that I picked up for $200.00

I had a partner, we built the cage, front sup, had tires and wheels, seats and rear shocks....about 1/2 done We had spent close to 20k... he ran outta $$$ (partner)... by this time it's early 93, We sold out and recuped about 30% of our money...

dang i see what you mean, it just seems likeif the cost wasnt a huge diffrence why not race somthing that might acctually finish and not be as hard on the driver ya know

My point exaKerleee......Keep in mind that if your working around a stock based car, truck whatever you are doing so cause you love it...working within stock sheetmetal can be a major PIA...

o and how much is that class 1 car selling for out of curosity

After going down for the 1000 I'll be back down there any chance I get!Its like they say if you go down to Baja for just the race you are missing out! I have so many stories and fun things that happened I can't even remember them all.

If your scared to go because of the stories you hear you need to remember you are going to a 3rd world country and its a risk you take. I would rather take the risk and have the fun then being scared and staying home.

AMJ that has been the thinking since the 80'z..Baja is wonderful and I do miss it.....it's just I have a family now and I think just a lil bit different now ......

WAR it's asking is 175k ..keep in mind that the Man you would be buying it from..is a Major player parts supplier for the parts you will need....

I can understand that. I can gurantee if I was still married I wouldn't have gone. Even though we are seperated the EX was still upset that I went :haha:

War- the prerunner or 1400/1450 class is a good example of another direction you could go....It's sportsman but so what...

This is what I could see... running US events as a 1400/1450

Then when you wanted to race the 1000 i would enter in class 7 or class 8 (fullsize) and just run for a finish, just to see how it shakes out...

Paging Daniel (SoCalRedneck) He knows all about this stuff. I would be interested in participating. Either from a driving standpoint or crew. Time, money, and family commitments aside..... :redneck:

If finishing a class 11 seems impossible, I'm open to building a Jeepspeed car. At least it can be a local trail wheler when not racing.

If I put up the money for the car and parts, who out there would put it in their shop and donate time on building it? I'm sure everyone would waiting in line to drive.

I like the idea of a dedicated group of guys with a common goal that work well together.

Lets put together a list of "must haves"

car
parts for car
fabricators
people with experience to guide us
a commited crew to make it happen

lets get serious. I have a 2007 rule book to get a basic idea of what to build.

Is there a local shop with good fab guys that want in? I'm pretty much set on Corey young for all the tig work.

tell me your thoughts

Robin..I think a Jeepspeed for a Northwester is a very good direction
(1) **** ton of them ugly lil bastards around (parts donors)

(2) Pirate guys doing it......( logistic help if you all ban together )

(3) I would tend to believe with the lack of teams around here you could get some local shop help ($$) any extra you can get "NOT" from your pocket the better..

(4) **** ton of them ugly lil bastards around (parts donors) :awesomework:

I think they have a good contingency program also....

I have seen rumor of a 1400/1450 series deal ....that's kinda like Jeepspeed...they pick the races they goto.. bla bla.

I'll go back and look into it before I say more...
