"Wishin' 4 One Tons" The 86ish Grand Waggy

Very nice, especially for hand tools, flux, and no bender. Looks like fun!

Thanks alot man thumb.gif It's full of hack and not a gofasthillkillingoattrailridinbunnyhoppintoobebuggy, so it doesn't get much attention...but I can tote 4 of my friends and a cooler 8)

Sorta got a bender..its just a hf pipe kinker though. Slightly modified "dies" with some round bar and extra weld. Anything thinner then .188 will still crumple up like crazy after about 65-70 degrees. Forget about doing thin wall for exhaust, I tried and failed. As far as the fcaw...Its what I got, so I just crank it up and let it eat

I like it, I just sold my buggy build off and I'm going to do a low budget F250 build instead. I'm excited to be back to a "beater". the high dollar stuff is cool to look at, but something about a capable cheap setup that still makes me excited to see.

I would rather watch a budget build over someone bolting together brand new parts. By far the best build threads are well documented budget builds that end up in a functioning rig. The only thing I hate is when people ar scared to go to the next level of their build. If you want to chop something up, do it. If you want to do it. eventually you will so do not wait.

Your build is one of my favorites on the forum. I won't lie...I was a little scared to hack off the leafs and go 3 link, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Sits a good 5 inches lower then before, 123" wheelbase and 20.5" to the lowest part of the skid.

Most guys wouldn't believe me if I told ya how little cash money I actually put out to build it :****: The heim order was the most I'd ever spent on it at one time. If there was a level under "budget build"....this would be it.

Missed the new years deadline, and the this weekend deadline...and will probably miss next weekends deadline. Put in a buncha late nights up til new years day at about 10am, when I threw in the towel and took sketchy truck out for the 2 day ride. Good news is I have everything I need to finish it now, just didn't have the time before new years.

This was a fun 6 hours with a hand drill.

Ran into something that I had never seen, part of the threads on this bolt had started peeling away. Looked like it didn't line up when they stamped it or whatever.

The more **** I pile on that little dana 44, the smaller and smaller it looks.

Close...This is actually a little past where the stop is, I hadn't adjusted the heims on the cylinder or the tie rod yet.

Rainy day waiting on other peoples parts, started putting this together.

Triple sticks for the 203/205. Waiting on some bearings and the 139 dollar doubler will be good for testing thumb.gif (don't mind my wiring nightmare, tbi harness is wrecking havoc on it)

Not sure if I'm going to cable shift the cases from the levers or make a mechanical linkage.

I know these are going to get beat to hell and I will have to replace them ALOT, but I don't cause it looks cool as hell to me.

Couple of questions fer yaw,
Tractor supply bolts?
Are you going to do a bar around the edge of your body cuts ( like Kush did)?
Is the center console (<= there is like ten ways to spell that, I have no ideal if that is correct ) angled toward the driver?
Are those pennies on the floor?

Yea, it was like xmas eve when I had to get them, fastenal was closed up til after new years. It was also the only place I could find a 3/4" bit without having to wait at least a day for it.

I would like to run something similar to his, just to save all the work in the edges. Not to worried about dents, but it'd kinda suck to fold the entire rear end under. Down the road I want to cut the rockers out for 2x4 rectangle, and build mini boatsides for it.

Yup, it angles back and to the driver a little bit

Took me a second to realize what you were talking about, I couldn't find pennies anywhere in the pics. Those are bottle caps, I'm not a drinker myself but when the neighbors or dad stops by they tend to start spelling **** out in the shop floor after a few :drinkers:

Looking good bro loller.gif

It's getting there, trying to not just hack it together again tho. It's been down long enough another month won't hurt anything. Plan on firing up the 180s for the first time sometime this week for some motivation tho booyang If they don't sound like **** I'll get a video of it :rolf:

I have always loved the 180's I wish I would have done them. Let's hear that video.

If this would have happened to me I still would be in the garage throwing things and cussing. I don't know why I find it funny but I may do one of my tires like this just to see what smartass points it out.

What kills me is, that it manages to show up in every picture I take of it molaugh I'll get the video uploaded tonight, along with some FL wheeling pics/vids from today thumb.gif

Had to find my booty fab thread..it almost got lost. Big updates in the following weeks, waiting for a few things to line up and I'll be able to stick some real axles under this thing :****:
Couldn't keep a trans in it so I chopped off 4 feet of frame for 46" trailing arms, instead of regearing the 44/12bolt. This is trial and error for me, these arms might just fall apart the first time out, I'm committed to making a set that hold up though, so we will see what happens.

I think I can make this work :dunno:

I've got the other arm and new frame rails tacked together, don't wanna go to much further without the new axle....I hear 80s are pretty big ;)

Good Move

Best one I've made in a while :****: Seems like all I've done in the last month is cut **** off and throw it away ::)

Plan is.
Extra width passenger drop super 60 (hp superduty 60 with the 550 knuckle/c) 35 spline/1550 stuff at first, the 80 I'm just gonna run until I can afford to build it into a rear steer.

Thanks to Ray, I was able to lay hands on an Ouverson stub. So I did a little checking today and squeezing the stub through the bore in the knuckle looks pretty straight forward, grind this, chop that and I should be able to squeeze 40 spline/rockwell stuff into the final incarnation of the front. Getting from rockwell joints to the unit bearing is the only stuff I haven't really nailed down. I think branik is making full engagement stubs, only in 1550 though, and I want rock joints dam it. So I'm kinda leaning towards some kinda chopped down stub and a drive flange

IF...and that's a BIG "IF" the sd60 chunk gives me any problems which I doubt it will, I'll chop the knuckles off and build a 80 or 14 bolt front with the 550 stuff.

These will snowball into me building a new powerplant to tote them around...or throwing large amounts of happy gas at my current small block :driving:
