Re: (Long way to go) buggy build

I know the TSL's look better and have more ground clearance, but also more sidewall flex and don't seem to bite quite as hard on rock. They are better when it's loose and muddy though. thumb.gif I'm like you I've got plenty of time.

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

Changed the thread name. Loved the colors of my old rig and am going with the same for this. It will be silver with as much red accent as I can do.

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

They do fit the part. Talked to Jimmy today. Frame is 100% complete. Winch, seats, motor, trans, transfer case mounts are all complete. Will have 4 link complete by next week, and she'll be home. :woot: :woot:

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

Jimmy told me your getting set up. That's good. I haven't posted pics yet cuz I ain't even seen it completed myself. I'm excited to be getting it home. Hopefully Woodlee and the crew will get my shocks by next week, and the bullet will be out of your way. Good Luck :dblthumb:

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

Few Q's for some opinions. I am planning on running a 355 or 383 with somewhere in the ball park of 400hp +or - a few. I want to run my 456 gear ration with a lowmax in a 205 with th350. With 44's and the buggy only being around 3300#'s shouldn't that be about right? The lomax is 3:1. I'm not really concerned with a low low crawl ratio, just a decent low 1st and some wheel speed.

looks like there are going to be some nice lines on this rig...
with the auto you should be golden with that set up. super low crawl ratios arent neccessary if you like to rock bounce at all.
the 4.56's will help your wheel speed and sounds like you will have plenty of power to turn them. i would stay with a stock tq converter

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

Do you currently own the LoMax kit? Careful if you do. :****:

No, not yet. Do you know of some down fall I'm not aware of? I could leave it stock and to 538's. But that's not what I want to do.

Why no stall? I thought I would have to go with at least 500 over stock. :dunno:

My badd. I got the LowMax kit mixed up with the Teralow kit.
Teralow uses a few two-piece gears while the Lomax gears are machined from a single piece. Probably not an issue though. Both require the same notching of the case to get the gears in. (quoted)

I had the Teralow kit in my 300 and it went all to hell. The two pieces are welded together and will break apart at times. Just passing the word. :dblthumb:

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

If you are planning on warming up the motor with a cam and extras, you will have to run some kind of stall or the buggy will inevitabley lunge trying to keep up with the lobe. .002 not worth much more. :dblthumb:

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

Yes I do plan on running a little hotter cam. So I figured I would have to run a stall. I talked to PTC today. They said that a 5 to 700 upgrade wouldn't even hardly be noticed. Thanks for the input. :dblthumb:

With the transfercase in low, you won't notice much stall at all. Kenny Ford built mine with a 2800 rpm stall and the only difference I notice is no compression braking when going downhill. Now in high range, I have all the stall I want and more. Next time I will have compression braking put in mine. :dblthumb:

Re: (Long way to go) Silver Bullet 2

My stall is a lil steep, after studying a lil I read a lot of people like stock. 5-700 should be nice though thumb.gif
