Ok so what about putting stock springs under it with a spring over and use the parts from the calmini lift? Would this give me a high front and lower rear or would it sit close to flat? I got the rear all done today and drove it around to see if it busts again but so far so good. I even ran it in 4low out in the bush in the side yard so I hope it stays together for a while so I can figure out what to do with it.

you need to buy my rear set up....stock YJ's on a ifs rear housing with all the brackets to bolt it to your rig....no welding no cutting... 150 bucks

Well what I think I am going to do for right now is go with a stock spring and spring over. The Calmini springs are stiff and ride hard. What I dont know is what lift do the stock springs over axle give? I am only running 31's as of right now but in time will step up to 33's. I am trying to get some other things done on the rig first like removable doors (done) relocating the mirrors for when the doors are off (done) welded rear axle (done) and bed liner in the tub (done). All cost me around $15 (price for the bed liner). The rest of the stuff was just work.:awesomework:

Depends on how tall the new perches are... If you stick with stock height perches, then you will net about 4.5" lift, and will fit 31's, for 33's you'll definitely need to do some trimming..You can build lift into the perch to get 33's,but trimming will still need done, just not as much!!!:haha: I would advise you make them longer than the stock ones, to help combat axle wrap:awesomework:....I can make you a set based on the height you want. PM if interested...

Well I have the lower front mount in front as part of the lift I have and shackle reversale (sp). For the rear I plan on an anti-wrap bar to help keep it in place. But I may be interested.

Howlong is the stock rear shackle? The front shackle kit I have is 2" of lift but I also have a Calmini rear shackle but dont know how long over stock it is.

I'd have to go measure one down at the shop, but I think they are 3.5" hole to hole...

I had a tape up to mine but now cant remember what the hell it was

I want to use stock springs over axle but think I will need to add more lift to the rear.

I'll measure one tonight for ya, but in my experience a shackle that's approx 1 inch longer than stock seems to work well with a springover, especially if you put rear springs up front....you will need to cut off and move the shackle mounts forward abit, but in the end it works well!!!!

Dang...I forgot!!! But also didn't go down to the shop either---when to town for a bit...I will be out in the shop tomorrow night, and will take a couple shots for ya...actually here's a teaser for unclestripey (his rig is at my place at the moment, mountin' yota's under it!!!

Note, the shackle mount has been moved forward approx 1.5".... He's got rears up front... He used to have revolver shackles, and I took 'em apart and used the actual shackle part of them for his normal shackkle, which these measure at 4.5" hole to hole...More pics of his rig to come at a later date!!! Well I hit mine with a tape and got 4.75" from center bolt to center bolt in the rear. As far as moving the front mount forward I have a shackle reversal in the front and would like to keep it for now. I need to find a set of stock springs so I can start in on it. I want to have the yotas under it by the time the core event comes up.

You'll need a set of stock front springs if you plan on keeping the S/R.

And why do you want to keep the S/R?

I have always like the way the work, and keep the shackles from being the first thing to hit. I know I will be needing stock fronts as I dont think I am going R.U.F. All in all if I come across the money for all the things needed to go YJ then I may just do that, but until then I want some more flex then what the Calmini springs give.

I hated my shackle reverse when I had leaves. It would hoop on climbs, the pinion would move to much and you need a long travel driveline.
Add that to soft YJ's and you'll be flattening and "S" ing springs left and right.

All I'm tryin' to say is, and this is with experience....you will encounter the same costs, if not more (long travel D-line, and all the other stuff T-madd mentioned) by stickin' with the SR...sure it may help on-road handling, but there's alot of costs incurred when tryin to make a SR'd sami 'work' well....

There are pro/cons to every suspension set up. Just depends on what you want it to do.

My thought has always been to wheel with other like veh. (in this case sami's) and see what works and what doesn't. Talk to the people you are wheeling with and see how they like their set up.

Just because a suspension flex is crazy, it may not be for you. You may not like body damage/roll overs and such. Maybe you need to drive yours to work on Monday. There are a lot of factors that are involved. I know I have been there and done that. I have installed just about every suspension set up short of going coils.

In my situation, YJ's, sprung over gives me the best ride. I can drive to the trail and home again, then to work on Monday if need be.

Find what works for you and you'll be happy.
