Elbe on the chopping block?

Its successful in most other parts of the country, especially the south east. Usually its a 10-20/car/day deal with some having annual passes of $150-$250.

With walker, it'd require a substantial increase in the amount of 4x4 trail.. Elbe not as much, since its already pretty good for 4x4s (although they too could use more mileage).

Walker would do ok if it had a ~200k/yr budget. It'd pay for an E&E and Maintenance person + some funds for capitol projects and raw materials. Thats about 10,000 visits a year at $20 or 20k visits at $10. Both aren't out of the realm of possibility, especially if the place was larger.

E&E alone runs about 100-125,000/year.

Maintenance person, maintenance materials, equipment...

I would be guessing much closer to 300,000 or more for walker; then there's capital costs. And that's with the advantage walker has with the fairly closed off system.

Yep, along with someone has to manage the whole deal.

Walker budgeted Kim (including benefits and such) around 45k/yr. Elyse is around 55k/yr.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something but where does the money from our hunting/fishing licenses go? I know I pay a hell of a lot more than $5 a year for all my licenses and tags plus launch/parking fees most places I go.

My point is, I'd like to know how the revenue is going to be split evenly between the WDFW and the DNR given the WDFW already has a significant user based revenue system.

I could easily spend over $200 in licenses and tags + $5 for the Explore Wa pass. and of that DNR may see $2.50? Maybe something like $4 from the sale would be more appropriate.

Anyone know when the next Elbe focus group mtg is?

the Independence and Carnage Canyon and Montrose trail systems in Colorado are other examples of new trails...not parks, no employees

wheeling isn't an entitlement ya know...why is WA different from having to do what other states have had to do to advance wheeling?

The numbers to support a position such as Kim's is more like $5K to $5.5K/mo for full time...Pay/benies/vehicle,etc....

Kevin is right about the vehicle, it is not calculated in the pay figures I found. Just Gross+Benefits. Her salary was 2994/mo + benefits.

Anywho, all that said, an E+E person for a park is not 100k. A regional patrol officer isn't even that expensive. That said, walker as it is ran today would require about 200k/yr.

I do like the idea of trails instead of parks.... this is what pretty much goes on in Canada.
