mod. class, 30' "A" build up

Stan let me know if you need some sheet for the dash. I will give you some of the extra off of my pu, dont worry its straight! I still laugh at your little saying "on a quiet night in the woods, u can hear a 8" ring and pinion die"

a couple of more pics of it with the radiator shroud, I am going to have to cut a bit of the radiator shroud to make room for the 8274

Sweet J. For the dash, I will call it the crumple zone LOL . I would hate to guess how many sets of r&p I have broke over the years, prob. Close to 20 :booo:

Thats funny, crumple zone!!! 20...WTF? im still on the 82 4 cyl r&p thats welded in the rear and my 3 yr old low pinion elocker in the front, with 4.10 gears! I guess that im a puss and never wheel hard or something. the best part iv never ran anything smaller than a 37 and have had the 42 for two years befor selling them, while during front diggs for 3 years...just lucky! OK back to work! you only have two months before yak.

The '30 sheetmetal is gonna be sick!

I almost bought an entire late 30's ford truck(completely roached) just for the front clip to get the "look" I wanted but came to my senses knowing the hood sides would just get destroyed. So I just made my own grill and hood.Seein your hood with sides makes me "almost" wish i bought the old truck.

Gonna be cool:beer:

I am planning on putting a Exo cage around the front end to save the sheetmetal. As narrow as the front sheetmetal is i hope it last for a while. I was going to build my own sheetmetal but it was to cheap to buy them. Now I just gotta figure out if I am going to blast and paint it or just go rat rod and paint the rust clear coat:redneck:

STAN...4 days and no update, WTF? The end of march will be here soon...get that thing FINISHED!

lol sorry boss :flipoff:

spent the weekend working on on putting the front end together and setting up the R&P with the arb's. Had to due a lot of clearencing to get the ARB in the curry 9+ pro race case but we finally got it done and the gears setup. Put the front end together and had a problem with the hubs sitting all the way on the spindle. After a lot of head scratching, looking up part numbers, a few phone calls to diamond axles, and checking parts numbers and sizes we found out that we had the wrong inner bearing race. . New ones area at the parts store and I should have the front end together by thursday. Then I will have to clearence the steering stops to get my 45deg of steering.

made a couple of changes to the solid axles high steer arms, the keyway such a tight fit that you have to beat the arm off so I added a couple of 3/8" bolt holes to use as pusher bolts. I also did not like the kingpin spring rubbing up againts the aluminum cap so I added a thin sheetmetal shim to protect the cap.

Looks good, :awesomework: Did you have to heat the arms back up to get them back on? Wow those were tight fitting. I like the washer to protect the cap, probably nothing would ever happen, but a little extra protection won't ever hurt. Spring steel against aluminum doesn't usually do well. Glad we figured out the wheel bearing dilema. I wonder how many others ran into that problem. It ended up being the race for the carrier bearing of a D60, as the inner wheel bearing and carrier bearing are the same, just the races change. 387A as opposed to a 387S. Sure made us think.
