my some what new toy build

my dad stoped by to suppervise a little.

Was that over dinner? SUPPERVISE?

LOL ANd why would you want the MM252?
ya but we skipped the supper part. fawkin went to monroe high school, got learned up real proper:redneck: . and the mm252 is to finish my bed and a few other things. dont want my new bottle of gas goin stale:awesomework: plus gotta get some use out of my new hood:awesomework: . so i messed with the wiring a bit tonight and cant get the headlights to work along with a few other things. im bout ready to order a pain-less wiring kit and **** can all the stock toyota crap. what a rats nest:mad: just need to get a weber gasket kit, a batt. or two, plumb the fuel pump and cell, and stop by the pet store for some squirrell food and a 2 litre of mountain dew and it will be ready to run:D

so today i started off by rollin the truck out side to clean my filthy shop. after that i decided to mount my fuel pump. simple job but took for ever cause people kept stopping by. then tinkered with the motor some did the plugs, wires, oil pressure sensor (temporary). then went to town to get some more stuff like radiator hoses, weber gaskets, belts, etc. tried to put the weber on but realized that the threads in one of the adaptor plates were pulled out so tomarrow i will get some heli coils to fix that issue. pulled all the stock fuel lines out to replace with one 5/16 hard line to match the rest of the plumbing. painted some more stuff blah blah blah. heres some pics:redneck:

Are you running a regulator on that pump with the weber? I have the same pump with a weber, got the pump used, so I don't know the psi of it. It seems to work good, haven't had a problem yet, just wondering if you know what the psi is, or if I should be running a regulator?

i know that it is a low pressure pump, but there are quite a few that look exactly the same. some are rated for higher pressure systems. i want to say that this one is 0-4 psi. i am also running a regulator and dialing it in to 3psi.

The one you ordered is the 6psi Carter rotary vane. They offer many different ones, in many Psi's. From 6psi.

so tonight i only got maybe an hour to work on this thing but got my main fuel line from the cell to the fuel pump plumbed. still need to fasten the fuel line to the cell so it not all floppy jo-loppy, but dont have the right clamps so ill have to get those sometime. also took some updated pics of motor progress. still need to plumb hard line from pump to regulator, build a throttle cable bracket, get drivelines done, get an optima batt. and get bobby longs. then it SHOULD run, and move under its own power...i hope.:redneck:Oh and get some squirell food, the pet store was closed the other day.:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

today i wired in the relay for my fuel pump and ran new hard fuel line:D . plumbed what was left of the fuel system. robbed a battery out of my soon to be tow rig:awesomework: . one of my next projects will be the crew cab dualie. bb chevy long bed:redneck: . i also got a boat trailer that i plan on turnin into my flat deck trailer. that is also one of my next builds. possibly turn the 2wd chevy into a 4wd. anybody got a d60 without payin an arm and leg for it:eeek: ? anyways back to my curent project. so after all the plumbing was done i checked all fluids and fired it up. fired right away and ran like a clock:D . i let it run for a few minutes checking for leaks, then i found one. an oil leak in betwean the head and timing cover. FAWK!!!!! looked into what the problem was and it turned out to be the head gasket between the head and timing cover had been pushed in and caused a wrinkle. so from there i ended up pulling the front of the motor back apart and fixing the gasket, hopefully:eeek: . as of right now just need to put the distributor back in and do the plug wires. had to quit for the night as ive had a raging headacke since about 5:24pm.   hopefully this fixed the problem and when i fire it back up tomarrow there wont be anymore leaks. if not then i got to pull the head and re-do the head gasket and all other gaskets involved with this procedure. anyways thats were im at with progress. maybe post some pics tomarrow, i me today... i mean later today.....

so got a late start today but it turned out better than yesterday. set the timing first thing and then double checked everything. fired it up and after some minor tuning and adjustments, ran the valves and tuned them in alittle. purs like a kitten. no leaks , good oil pressure and doesnt run hot atleast not at this point.:D :D very inpressed with the throttle response:awesomework: . seems like its gonna work very nicely:D . carb could possibly use a good cleaning and for sure some adjusting. other than that i am very pleased with the new motor.

took measurement for rear driveline today and did some more tweaking on the carb. should get the rear shortened tomarrow. waiting on the front as it will cost a bit more.

called tbf and am haviving him do my front and rear shafts for me. should be good to go there. not much else got done besides switching the output flange on my t-case. maybe get some more stuff done on the bed this weekend. ordered tread bright and its in, just got to go get it in smokey point. should make the bed look a little more bling..

so this weekend i went snow boarding and beat myself up a bit resulting in not very much progress on my truck. still recovering. but i borrowed my bros welder and took the bed back off to finish some welding and prep for paint, hopefully this weekend it will get painted. need to fab mounts for my cell and do a few other simple this. tread bright is in and im getting it cut down to sizes close to what i need as i dont really have a good way to cut it. the guy i am getting it from has a table saw so i figured it would work better to have him do the long cuts and i can do the rest. also im thinking about painting the tread bright matte black and then i will run over it lightly with a d-a sander. not sure yet but i think it would look pretty sick. if i did that i would also do the truck box. let me know what your guys thoughts are on the tread bright painting.

Where are the updates you have had my tools long enough to do something even if it is wrong!!! Let me see what's new! Is my welder burned like the garbage can?????? LOL

so i have got a few things done. i borrowed my bros welder and finished most of my welding to finish the bed and back half of the frame. got my spare tire cradle done. also primed and painted the bed. got my mounts done for the cell and rubber mounted it. also put some rivets in the hood to replace the sheetmetal screws used to hold the cowl induction scoop on.:awesomework:
