2rz-fe swap

Now I want a 2RZ.... :redneck:

I like the numbers, and the swap seems pretty straightforward. I just kinda feel loyal to my 22RE. I like to keep it real. Maybe in my (future) weekend warrior!

Dude your CrashFab cam is frozen!!!

Ya--wasn't even out there--after 10 hours in a hot shop--I didn't feel like being in a hot shop again,lol..

I actually had some other duties to take care of...

Yeah I can imagine. It has been pretty hot over here.

Hey, now! I happen to like my lil motor that could!

I have a friend, actually Boner Buster's dad, who has wheeled V8's of all kind for a long time, and he recently got a Toy with a 22RE in it and has been somewhat impressed.... He thinks it is comparably peppy, and gets good mileage. That being said, here's to a few more ponies!!

BTW, did you swap the 2RZ oil pan out for a different one? 22R?
Good build thread.

Yes it is a 2WD 3RZ-FE oil pan for a 95+ T100. Funny that they ever made that big bodied of a truck with a 2.7 liter engine. It is a rear-sump pan since the original one was a front sump one.

Ok--so I got fittings to finish the fuel system. Unfortunately I was unable to find the exact ones I wanted(downside of not working in a big city anymore) but something that will work just as good--just a lil longer...

I was going to toss the short section of hardline on the return on the motor due to a possabilty of the rubber line making contact with the steering shaft. Instead I went ahead and removed it and but a slight bend in it---no clearance issues now with the steering shaft. So the fuel system is now complete except a pressure check

I also got the main power feed for the starter done. It was a tight fit and I tried to keep it away from any sharp stuff--ended up adding some protection near the radiator on the passenger side..

So that makes all the main power feeds done.

One downfall though--we are going to have to run a different fan. The taurus fan is just too thick and nails the water pump head hard enough to where I can't even get it down on the radiator..

Ok so I finally got the engine wiring harness done and routed(stock harness is 10" too short to keep the ecm in its stock location).......

I also got the main power feeds finished off. I ended up buzzing a new hole to keep the engine harness stand alone..

The hardest part was intergrating the 2rz into the rig. One nice thing about toyota though--over the years since fuel injection they have keep there power feeds/sub systems pretty much the same and alot of the wiring coding... I also had to add a few circuits thru the body to engine harness (alt feeds/dlc) to keep the engine harness truely stand alone...

rome102.jpg

I threw the ecm in and you can't tell its been touched or modified..

rome103.jpg

I was going to start it but didn't have any oil--until I called rome and forgot he had thrown oil in the back of the rig. So I tossed some oil in it---cranked it over and bamb---the fawker fired off--fawk that was loud,lol...

I also got the passenger side all done. I ended up adding a 4 fuse block---and its perfect as when the glove box is in--you can still access the fuses and won't get kicked since its down in the foot zone..

Now to tackle this mess,lol.....

I have couple of them that I bought at West Marine but I know that other boat/marine supply stores carry them.

lol. I should've guessed they were marine items. I know some car OEMs use them, but I've not seen aftermarket ones yet. Thanks for the tip, they're going to come in handy. And it will save me the trouble of making them myself.

Nice truck, nice swap.

Ok so I went and pulled the cluster out....

rome106.jpg

And did some reading and finally located the proper spot to add the 10k resistor..

rome107.jpg

Kinda looks like it puked itself a lil huh,lol

rome105.jpg

Well the dash wiring went good and a lil work. Unfortunately I forgot one circuit that I didn't relize was there--there was a lamp on the dash that showed when the fans were on--so I went and added it...
And finally the dash work is done and put back together...

rome108.jpg

And here is where I put the dlc....

rome117.jpg

So since the cruise is no longer being used--I ripped that outa there and cleaned up the wiring...

rome110.jpg

I also took the stock brake booster hosing and valve and reworked it.

rome111.jpg

So since I was able to test all the circuits in the engine bay--I figured it was time to get all the wiring finished...
