Hey everyone cant seem to figure out what would would cause this issue im having. Ive searched and searched on here and google and cant get anyone with the same kind of problem i have.

My 88 Cherokee drives fine until I put it into reverse. When in reverse if you stomp on the gas it wants to die or either cut out real bad. Any ideas would be great thanks :mad:

See if the ground cable is loose on the block or possibly the CPS harness is melting onto the exhaust manifold. Movement of the engine from shifting makes weird stuff happen. On my 4 cyl XJ it would cut the spark when you put it in reverse because the backup light harness was melted to the pipe and it shorted the fuel pump relay when it moved.

Look at the body ground behind the left rear kick panel...If it's loose, it can and will wreak havoc on the electrical system, and engine control by backfeeding other systems when it is loose. Seen it a couple times now...

Left rear kick panel? Please elaborate im kinda confused to where this could be located thanks :stirpot:

Fixed my issue which had me stumped for about two weeks. Result was the bell housing to engine block was loose that being the issue caused my Crank Positon Sensor to not get a good reading . I was missing the top 2 (e12s inverted torx bolts- why did jeep use this dont know) after replacing these bolts reverse issue went away :D
