Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Made these at work to cap the end of the tubes.

Hard to tell here but they have a 5 degree point on them and they was cut to fit the inside of the tube by 3mm. Makes a nice clean look.

And here is the rest of the rear bars.

I have to add some support pieces , make a holder for the propane tank , handle for the front passenger, and a few other things including painting the cage. I will be in the garage from 10:00 till finished.....

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Looks good Josh - I know Bradley is about to blow his wad right now :dblthumb:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

So I am about done. All I like now is to finish making the propane tank holder. Finish some sheet metal work on the rear tub. Prime and paint the cage. I like 2 support bars in the center of the main hoop. And I will make a new topic but I need someone with a 1" bender to either bend me 2 handles 90* for the front of the cage. Or if the die will fit my JD2 Model 3 let me borrow the die set for a weekend. Here is the progress pictures for today.

Tied the shock hoops to the cage.

Notice the bar coming down behind the seats. It is tied to the rear frame through the floor of the tub for extra strength. I will also build the propane tank holder off of this bar.

Bent 2 180* pieces and will attach them to the above bar. I will then make a bracket to attach the propane tank to.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

So I am pretty much finished up. The tub really needs to be finished up and when Bradley gets more funds for the jeep he is going to let me finish the tub. It would be slick if the whole back was boxed in. I just did the rear like it is to save him some cash until he can afford to have me box it in. All I have left is one corner pieces to weld on the body. And paint the front hold bar. I took it out and watched the rear travel. Everything looks good. I think the engine is idled to high as it is a pain to try to stop the thing. I ran it down the road about 50 mph. It actually handles pretty good and no body roll like I have seen others with Air Shocks.

I have a 1" die with a 4-1/2" radius. Pretty sure I have some 1" seemed tubing too.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

looks awesome. great job. who did the sheet metal stamping? i wouldnt mind haveing some gussets like that or similar

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I have a set of dimple dies I used and just use a hole saw and then press it with the dimple dies. I could make you some if you know the size and angle.

Will you be at Gray Rock for the xrra? If so do you mind if I borrow them or you could bend me 2 90* and I will pay you. That will finish the cage up.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Great work man, I talked to Brad yesterday and he said he was going to pick it up today, I can't wait to see it in person, looks alot different than last time I saw it

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

All you need now Bradely is some 44"s :driving:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

It is gone, Bdrake left happy. Let him take it down the road and cross a 6' deep ditch I use to test things out on. It has the flex and it handles good at high speeds. So we will have to see how he drives it now.....

it is the front hood. I noticed that as well. In that picture the air shocks was setting a little low. I jacked it up to extend the shocks and set the nitrogen at 135 each. It is sitting a little high in the back and should have enough nitrogen in them for bradley to tweak it in. If not I will have to do it when we get a chance to ride together. I also got the rear tail lights working with the brakes and with the headlight switch. Installed Bradley's LED tail lights before he left with it.
