build is looking great man. keep it up

Brian

I am thinking the next time I do a setup like this I will just make a custom truss. It does save me time buying one but unless you spend 500.00 on a BTF truss or other brand then you will have to add extra bracing. Yours is a lot like the one that is on my jeep.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

So I got the rear frame done. Pulled it out and painted. Just to show I am taking the time to remove and paint everything as it is hard to paint everything once it is on for good. I also got the rear truss painted and the rear cage hoop bent for the dovetail. I welded the rear corners back on for good. And will have to cut the corner guards to fit the new shape. So a lot done today even though the weather kinda sucks. Hope to have the rear frame welded in, axle and 4-link hooked up and the cage completed by tomorrow night.

The corners will be covered up with corner protectors and you will not see the weld.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I am moving right along today. Got the rear frame welded in and attached to the dovetail hoop. I have also got the shock hoops bent and ready to weld on. I am hoping by the end of the day it is setting on its on ........ I will have pictures tonight. The rear truss sets it off and thanks for the comments on it. Just kinda went with what I was thinking, it was a pain due to the offset of the chunk but it was worth it.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Alright, So the jeep is setting on it's own now. 4-link is now finished. The rear shock hoops isn't done. I am cutting some 1/8 steel plate and putting some dimple died holes in it for some added strength and pimpin looks. Both hoops will be tied together with a cross bar and the propane tank will be mounted to that as well. I also plan on tied the hoops in to the lower frame or up bars not decided on that yet. Well here is how she sets today. It will take me busting my ass all week and weekend to finish up. Just a bunch of little stuff once the cage is completed.

A little flex. Kinda hard on a shop floor with jacks, but you get the idea.

So that's it for now, more to come this week.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

lookin good man!! I like how that truss turned out. I was really thinking about something similar to that one, but decided to go a different route.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Thanks, it isn't too late for you to change yours. Just a couple pieces of tubing and it will be beef. Well I have got to figure out how to tie the rear corners to the lower frame and make it look good. It is pretty tight back in the corner with the fender wells but I will figure it all out.... I know Bradley will be happy to see it rolling on it's own again.

nice work josh! whens it gonna be on the trails!

It is going to take me every day this week till Sunday to get it finished. Maybe a little during the next week but I am hoping by next weekend we can take it out and tune the shocks and see what it can do.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Its looking killer man, I can't wait to see this thing done and see what it and Bradley can do, great looking work!!! Any idea what its going to weigh when finished?

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Good - spend some money and while your at it you really need some 44's :****:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I managed to get the corners laid out after Bradley left. I was having a time lowering my highlift jack.... Things are a pain in the ass... Got to show him what I was planning on doing to dress the cage up and adding some support bars. Maybe have some more pictures tomorrow.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I got a few bars to add to the rear bars and then just some support pieces. Get the brakes hooked back up and paint the cage. I am thinking Friday night, but it just depends on if I run into issues. But surely by Sunday it should be ready to go back home.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Bradley,
what color are you going to paint the cage? I like the unfinished look, i think it would look good silver or red to match the flames. something to make all that nice tube work stand out. it will all blend together if you go black all around.?!?
