BDrakes Jeep Build " Completed "

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I still got a lot of little things but pretty much all the big things are out of the way. Thanks for the comments. I can't wait to see how it performs, even if I have to ride passenger and hold down the skinny peddle. lmao....

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

molaugh looking good! you have a side shot showing the new wheelbase?

cant wait to ride in the new rig B :drinkers:

explained this in other post. there will be some more bracing. This is a boxed truss, which has 3/8 thick plate welded in first then the 1/4 box around it welded to the axles as well. However I like to build everything stupid strong from the beginning and not do it twice. Planning on running some tubing from the back part of the axle to the center of the truss. Maybe the same for the front and then welding dimple died plates in for extra strength.

It is tall but for the ride height and to keep my upper links flat as possible then it has to be this high. Again there will be some bracing added. As far as "jank" all that was removed in the first post.........

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Well for shits and giggles while Bradley was here we looked at the truss. It is about 2 inches above the diff. These pictures makes it look a lot taller. Showed him my plans of making it stronger.

I got a little more done today. Got the front passenger side double sheer leaf bracket made. It is 1/4 thick and along with the frame rail being drilled and a bushing welded in it should be plenty tough. I have to get this side finished and need to get some grade 8 bolts before I move to the other side. Every little piece is that much closer.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

looks pretty cool man, glad bradly owns this thing now...didnt like when i heard Kevin bought it...

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

I meant to add that I lowered the front by 3 - 4" by doing this. Yeah Bradley said today he was going to have to beat on it a little more now and he feels safer with a sturdy cage. However if he fails to do this I will have to become a passenger/pedal pusher.

Hell you may have to lol :drinkers: :driving:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

The front is finished and bolted back up.It sets about 31 3/4 in the front. A little lower than I thought it would. So I removed the rear truss and will lower it as much as possible. Can't be having no "JANK" left on this when finished....LMAO .... I hope to finish the rear cage and frame connection this weekend. It is a lot closer....

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

DANG MAN.......so this is where you have been..........
Cool rebuild man ,and damn right...........LOWER IS BETTER.......... :****:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Yeah this is where I have been hiding.... The rear truss in now welded back on and sits about an 1" above the diff. Had to go buy 3/4 bolts for his links and will get back at it as soon as this weather breaks.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

Man we had some bad weather. Shelley had some hail damage to her 4-Runner but just a few places. Her bosses truck was parked next to her and it helped block hers. His is screwed. But we are all safe and I got the rear truss done. Upper links welded on the truss and the links painted. Tomorrow I will clean the rear axle and paint. Install the links and cage. I hope to get some tube work done tomorrow as well.

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

dont know what everybody else thinks but i think that rear truss came out pretty pimp :woody:

Re: BDrakes Jeep Build

All that matters if you like it. It is hard to put a truss like that on a 14 bolt as it is offset from the center. Then add the tubing supports and it is a pain. I might add a couple more pieces to it but I don't think it is going anywhere. Prove me wrong and I will fix...... I am stoked about working on it all day tomorrow as I believe i will get a lot done. I know the rear will be in and done with.
