I'm also thinking about CTM u joints in the axles any thought on this?

With the chromoly axles a 297x u joint is going to be the weak link right?

With the CTMs are the axles going to be the weak link?

With a 1.3 L axle breakage is probably not going to happen but I'd rather be over built than under built when it comes to the axles .

I don't want to have to replace u joint every few months. And the price of the CTMs is not a factor in my decision.

I'd rather build it right from the start and in the future if I don't sell this rig a bigger power plant will be added. stroked 22 re or a 4.3l

I got the taillights cut out this morning and here's the roof a little more shaping by Tim and it will be done. We got the side panels cut out and bolted up ready to be shaped to the rig.

On the u-joints i would get a set of Jantz superjoints. Plenty beefy, and if I couldnt break them, you wont either. Cost is a bit less, and IMO quality is the same as CTMs. Personally I wouldnt polish those 44s too much, as if you wheel hard 60s will appear under the rig someday and people generally dont pay squat for built 44s. BUT, wheel it till you need to upgrade.

Oh ya, I forgot about that other guy too. As a matter of fact I will be calling that other guy soon for those stronger than that other brand U-Joints.

Today I painted the hood. I'm not sure about the color. The pics dont show the color it's charcoal metallic. I'm thinking about maybe a dark silver metallic. I'm going to paint some of the tube to see the final look. I'm not sure if I'm going to paint the side panels and roof or leave them bare aluminium.

Yeah now I'm thinking the same thing, but I'm also thinking about anodizing them black. But I'm not sure.

Now that I'v been working on this rig for the past 17 days, 4-5 hours after work and up to 10 hours a day on the weekends. I'm really liking this rig after I bought it I wasnt sure if I was even going to keep it at all just fix the front end and sell it, but now I look at this rig and I dont see the rig I bought 24 days ago Yeah I like it.

Keep it! Or at least enjoy the 4WS for awhile. Even after the novelty runs out, it's still REALLY fun to drive.

lol no sorry like I said now I like it.

I will add that all the positive feed back I'v got over the past 1 1/2 weeks helped and just fueled the fire to get this thing done as fast as possible

And I don't think my dog likes me any more.
