digs/burns

well im welded so it looks like line lock do I need discs I am going to use the d 118 till I have a 300 and the adapter

It would be better to have disks I'd imagine but not needed. Dana 18 go boom in your near future.

i already have the adapter ithink buy looking at kovack it apears the d18 and a d300 adapters to th400 are the same

i just read, The 18 is not without a fuse when under extreme service; its offset design causes the reactive driven torque of the driveshafts to apply a large upward moment force against the case and the case can split between the intermediate shaft bore and the PTO port or the case bottom opening. Gears

Cutting brakes wont work if you have a welded diff in the rear.

Not true Brian. A cutting brake that locks up BOTH wheels is what one needs for front digs. I'm aware people to the single wheel lock-ups with sucess. I would NOT recommend it though.

Don't use line locks, use a cutting brake. Take that for what it's worth.

so a lever that is plumbed to both back brakes an one plumbed to both front brakes to lock them????

Cutting brakes have two levers....one for each wheel. If you cant only lock up one wheel whats the purpose of having two levers.....you might as well just have an e brake. I manual or electric line lock would seem to me a better option.

Ive been doing front burns in auction cars fro years!

If using a line lock valve, plumb it in line with the front brakes and it will render them useless when turned on. only letting the rear lock up when using the pedal with the line lock on.

mark has a point, If using cutting brakes then one lever, or one direction(one handled units) can lock up fronts and the other can lock up rears, just kick it in 2x:awesomework:

I like the idea of just using the parking brake! KISS:cheer:

The cutting brakes will work well for someone with 4ws but not if you have standard steering.

Rear digs are a great tool, but difficult to master. If you have an auto the two brake pedals is highly recommended by me. Levers are a pain. Personal preference I guess.

Cutting brakes come in all shpaes and forms. 2in-2out, 1in-1out, two handles, one handle.....or you can do my set-up, two brake pedals. One front, one rear. It's not a black and white subject.

I guess i have only ever seen the two handle ones. So you have two pedals like a tractor. Thats pretty cool.
