They basically keep you from having to **** around with the extractor when the spin out. Some of mine came right out, i had to **** with one or two.

TBItoy said:ABS with the longer birfs should be 93-97. The drive flanges are longer on the ABS axles to make up for the longer stub shaft.
I didn't know that the wheel hubs were different, I thought all FJ80 wheel hubs had the bolts in from the front side.
I've owned 97, 96, 94, and 2 91 model axles and honestly can't remember if the wheel hubs are different. I know the brakes and knuckles are different, but the brakes are interchangeable (rotor and calipers have to match, but are swappable)
Like I said Josh, there are 2 hubs from a 91 laying at the JY in La Vernge, I can swing by and pick them up if you want a spare.
TacomaJD said:Idk, I just found that vid on Youtube and was talking with Eric Hagan (had several Land Cruisers) earlier today and he thought the bolts would be on the backside of the rotor too, so I'm not sure what the differences are. Thanks Nick, I'm gonna try to just fix this one and hopefully won't have an issue breaking another set of studs for a while. Next time, I won't be pulling anyone in reverse. Gonna put a d ring on the rear to tug with.
TBItoy said:That video you posted is from a newer 100 series cruiser I think (overseas they still had straight front axles), notice that it is a big 5 lug
Yeah, I'd definitely fix what you have with some 7/16 bolts.
I'd be scared to pull backwards anyway, you got a high pinion frontend, so it's weaker running in reverse!

Neal3000 said:i wasn't trying to say that the wheel hubs are different between the different years of FJ80's, just that you can't use a Aisin lockout hub on the later ones with longer birfs unless you cut a new snap ring groove on the end of it (which wouldn't be a big deal imo.)
also i read that the 91-92 flanges are thinner and more prone to getting wallered out and ruirnt- kinda like Rogers favorite nanny goat :****:
muddinmetal said:I thought pre abs 80s and minitruck drive flanges were interchangeable and that 80 series cruisers shared almost nothing with older cruisers except a 9.5inch rear ring gear, hell, idk.

Josh, 80series tech on ih8mud is the sh*t for situations like these
TBItoy said:You can use pre abs 80 flanges on mini truck hubs, and vice versa with hubs, the issue comes from trying to add the extra dowel pins.
Josh could technically use the creeper flanges, but couldnt utilize the 4 extra pins , so he wouldn't really gain anything
