*FJ80 front axle hub studs sheared, trying to fix*

Did they replace the ARP studs under warranty? jw in case I ever start breaking em
What are all you guys using to drill out the extra holes for the dowels that are needed for the TG drive flanges? We have a drill press and I was having a hell of a time getting anywhere with it, and I finally just said "F" it and put the ARPs in and moved on.
x4 on using a hammer and flathead on the hub nuts. . . probably wouldn't hurt to invest in one of the sockets, they're getting pretty beat up

My socket came in last week. I wasn't the original owner of the arp studs, so I imagine it would have been a bitch to get them warrantied. I got a used good hub from Jamie today. Most likely going to drill it out and tap it for fine thread cap bolts. I thought the studs were 3/8's already but they are 5/16 I believe....so I'm gonna drill em out to 3/8's and see how that fairs.

Jesus, just when I think I'm smart.....I'm not.

Not real up on the fj80 axle info, but can you swap to mini truck wheel hubs? If so, I would do it, run the longfield drive flanges (stronger than Trail Gear in my opinion), and then run 6 ARP studs, 2 stock dowels, and then 4 extra bolts drill and tapped into the wheel hubs. That's what I run and so far the only thing that has failed are the Trail Gear flanges (replaced with Longfield flanges and kept the Trail gear warranty replacements as spares).

You can put the mini hub-flanges or lockouts on the 80 series wheel hubs but there's not enough meat on the 80 series wheel hubs to drill for any extra dowels so it's kinda pointless

No chance at running the mini truck wheel hubs on an 80 axle?

the spindles are different, and even if you could get the mini hub on the 80 spindle i think you would then run into caliper to rotor issues. it might could all be worked out with a little machining and some creative :afro:engineering???

Re:

I'm drilling them bitches out! Using the stock 2 dowels but drilling out the 6 stud holes to 3/8 and using 3/8 bolts, 1 1/2" long, 24 fine thread, and rock out with my cawk out! If that breaks, I'll just use duct tape next time.

How are you still fighting with this?

Time and tools motherfawker. I just got a hub from Jamie Sunday, I don't have a drill press and I'm usually asleep when my buddies that have the tools I need are awake and free. It will be done this weekend and I WILL be at Morris Mtn next weekend. Ain't you got a Gayzr cage to rub your penis on or something? :flipoff1:

Go ahead and take those back and get L9 haha make sure you keep them tight! Red thread lock and a heavy tac weld

I figure thread locker orta hold em. I'll keep a check on them to ensure they stay tight, though. Prolly how the ARP studs broke in the first place. Maybe the Grade 8's will hold up since they are a good bit bigger, only time will tell molaugh
