Fords PSD vs Dodes Cummins..

I think powder-metal rods being an issue is a myth and I thought the powder-metal rods started in the 6.0's

They started as early as 00 or even 99. It was hit and miss for a couple years on which had them. You had to search the block number to find out. And there are a bunch of PMR's in the Fords that have made nice windows in the blocks with not much power. Definitely not a myth.

They are for real. They started in late 2000 and off and on after that. The only time it's a issue is if you're a dyno fag. In the real world it doesn't matter.:cheer:

I know it's all blocks but when I wrote 53 you know exactly what it means. I know of at least one person who has had this happen on a 12 valve.

Trust me, it's not very common for the 12 valve.. We just had a discussion about that on Competition diesel as well. Out of the many many many 24 valve blocks that cracked. We could only come up with a couple 12 valves that cracked.

Most of the time, people don't blow their motors on the dyno. It's when they actually use the truck :kissmyass:. Most of us aren't dyno junkies. I've only been on the rollers three times. And two of those times was just to get a decent truck count at a friends shop for their dyno day.

I know PMR's are real I think the issues they are noted to have are a myth.

Downhill with the clutch in :haha::haha:

I jump for joy when I get over 13 mpg on a tank, and my tank is 58 gallons and I average between 11 and 12, towing I get 8-9

a good friend of mine was not happy with the mileage of his 6.7 either so he did the egr and particle filter thingy delete and know averages 20mpg with
37" tires.

Jaydog.. Come on over and we can ditch that crap.. I just did it to my friends mega cab. Not a bad job at all. I can get the Smarty, exhaust is CHEAP. Then you just need to pick up some H&S block off plates. :awesomework:

X2. Do it Jay, it's WAY better that way!

Are we talking 6.0's too or just 7.3's I'm a slow typist and this could take a while:rolleyes: We were 1 repair away from getting a '05 F450 Lemoned, Almost had to take Ford to court:mad:

ALL powerstrokes...

At least Dodge didn't have to go to court with Cummins because of so many issues with the motor :haha:

Not to mention Dodge wouldn't know wtf they were doing when it came to building their own diesel :eeek:

Can't wait to see how the Scorpion does. From what I've heard so far, it's promising, time will tell though.

I'm fairly sure that's not what the court case was about and Ford has proved they can't build a deisel either.

Whatever you guys want...I'll be the first to say the 6.0s had issues and I would not buy one.

That was definitely a screw up on internationals part.. WAY fewer head bolts on the 6.0's vs the 7.3's. If it weren't for that, you could definitely fix the common issues with the 6.0's and make some pretty damn good power, reliably. They upped the size from 14mm to 16 mm head bolts on the 6.4's, which helped. But I don't think it's enough. Not sure how the top end on the scorpion is set up.

From what I read in the news, it was due to all of the warranty claims. Who knows what kind of behind the scenes crap there was. I honestly didn't research it much. As far as I'm concerned, Ford was just trying to screw over international and point the finger away from themselves.

What about the EGR cooler plugging and cooking the P.S. Head gasket?:puke:
Ford seems to know that damn near every 6L is going to fail head gaskets and egr coolers but will only pay to repair which one failed at the time even though the other is soon to follow. Only pays to install non upgraded stock headbolts upon headgasket repair even though they are part of the problem.
Ever work on a 6L jesus everything is hooked together and stacked and stuffed under the cab. What a bitch!

Love how the NTSB had to force a recall on the 7.3 CPS after everybody had already changed 3. Then all of the sudden when Ford has to supply them to you the price dropped 150%:awesomework:

I'd keep going but I'm tired and have to work on more PSD's in the morning:booo:

I work on them all so it makes no difference to me. But for the sake of this thread. I see more Ford/ Powerstrokes in for repair than I do Dodge/ Cummins trucks. Take it for what its worth. They all have moving parts and will fail eventually.

ford knows how to get the broken ones into the dealerships too.

Fullywrecked's FORD tow truck/rollback came stock with a Cummins 6er, cuz a powerjoke 8 cant tow its brothas home.

:kissmyass:
