Tryin to think outside the box here.... could the raised tubing front end design allow him to see directly in front of the buggy better? Looks hard to see out from the side but wonder how it looks from the drivers seat

I thought the same thing, I would just about guarantee this is the reason. More travel & better visibility

More travel, for sure. I am still not sure about visibility. But that isn't as important with bouncing as it is crawling I would imagine.

Definitely a huge task to build in a couple weeks. Maybe I'm missing something but don't see any brakes? Specifically the front. Is that normal?

Brakes are on the transfer case outputs

Brakes are on the tcase.

Does it have a front and rear output brake? Or just one rotor?

on my pinion brakes with my Detroit locker in the front when I broke a front and rear axle on tail gate at Harlan. The damn front unlocked and I only had one rear tire kinda working I was like oh hell no :o
