Oneal, any updates on the Caddy on Dubs?

I trust by now that Jim has the suspension geometry thing licked. I cannot tell that for sure as every video of every rig he has ever built is on some insanely muddy rockpile that tends to involve way more throttle than finesse, so until I get to witness this first hand, I am not sure. My gut says the boy has his **** squared away in this department.

I think he's got it...We do technical girly crawling over here too. Throttle is fun, if I lived out west, screw owning a rock buggy. I'd have a 1000hp sand car, crawling is fun but does nothing for my adrenaline.

insert boring technical footage....and feel free to follow us around sometime at Windrock. :spin:

I think he is trying it to prove a point more than anything else.
Now that has to be the gayest thing I have ever heard. Why would someone spend all of that money to "prove a point"?

Just my .02 worth on the unit bearings. For the lighter rigs we are running they seem to be just fine so far. Brian and Levi and running the hell out of them as we speak and have not had any trouble with them and I think they use theirs more than most. I hate them for trucks, we have over 50 Dodges here at work and we replce some EVERY week, that makes me wonder how long they will last, yes they are on much lighter rigs, but I still like to be able to service things and look at them. For now they have ran fine and the guys there are tits to work with, will I run them on my new chassis, no, why because I can work on my Dana 60's just fine, I know it is old school but I am not building some bling bling rig to run one damn race in. The nice thing about Nolans info and input on some of the new parts is that this year he as logged alot of miles and talked to alot of people east and west about the parts they are using and what has not work, and first hand talk goes along way with me, dont tell what you think you know, show me. Just my .02 I know it dont count for much.

Damn, now I see why you like the throttle Greg....you SUCK at crawling :flipoff1:

Those rocks do look nice. Windrock and that private place in TN look like great rock crawling spots.

The biggest advantage to me of unit bearings is the fact that you can't screw them up. Most folks don't torque and grease their D60 bearing properly when they install them, much less when they are on the trail after a break. Other than Droopy's, I have never seen one go bad in person on a rock buggy where they could not finish the trail or even the weekend.

I will say again, I don't have a ton of trail miles on mine, so everything I think about them is just from watching them work on some heavily abused buggies.

As for the Hi9, I agree 100% with you on that one Greg.

Why is that gay? He is open enough to try a 9in rear (many folks here at not open to try new things). He wants it to last, but if it does not he will go with a 14b and be done with it. He can sell the nine and pay for the 14b, so not much money lost. I think it is cool he is trying something even though everybody is saying it will not last. But I think it is good he has a backup plan in case it does not work. 14b's are cheap and easy, no harm in trying :flipoff1:

Couldn't have said it better myself. I really hope it last. I guess only time will tell.
I am confident in it because Greg Stone has made one last and he wheels more than anyone I know. Anybody who wheels 35 weekends a year is a good test person. Hell he really wheels, not just 1 or 2 runs at a comp or just a couple of trails at grayrock. There crew wheels all day and all night almost every weekend.

Your reading comprehension sucks. I think you need to go back and read from the beginning.

I Did read from the beginning, but id expect nothing less than a tarzan move out of u as well sir...

Now Matt that was better put. I agree he is going the right way and I hope it lasts. I see now when you said prove a point you meant prove it will last.

Jrich, I will not even bother...

I am learning new things around here everyday.

I can't wait to meet every last one of you.

Cole, didn't you tell me that your 9" was sporting 40 spline's? Son, if that don't hold you up, it is back to the rocks for you. Hell, I am running 35 spline cryo chromo's and I have only broken 1 so far and that was due to installation error on some other brain fartin mechanic. Fawkin ROCK on bud, that is gonna be one badass ride. Jealous, hell yah, why wouldn't any one be. thumb.gif
