Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

Hope you don't have any neighbors. My "co-pilot" comes over to help or to get away fro
His wife all the time. I make him park up by the road way away from my house. The dam truck is so loud it drives everyone crazy. Not a good loud either. ****, we were just talkin bout it last nite, and have no idea WHY?? It's insaned how loud it is. I get that they are good motors but dam that truck! All them vibes rattle tha truck to death.

Get it, do a fuel plate, afc mod. and most of all a 4k GSK and some valve springs, and you will have plenty of engine. Oh, first and fore most, pull the timing chain cover to ensure that the killer dowel pin mod. has been done.

THIS FOR SURE! The ol killer dowel came out in mine, not pretty. The updated front gear housings have a boss cast into them to prevent it from happening. My 95 is mixing oil and water and still strong as an ox! Fuel pump plate and pump timing is all that has been done to mine.

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

I vote buy that truck cheap and swap the motor into a 05+ Superduty with a bad engine. You will have a truck that will never let you down and tow whatever you hook to it. You can scrap the dodge dually body and get some money of your money back.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard. Even all my chevy buddies talk about how comfortable fords are. If you think a Ford is uncomfortable, you should turn and run from that Dodge.

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

I'll give fords the comfort but I love the power of my Cummins.
On a side note, where can I find a GSK 3 or 4k for under 100 bucks?

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

PAC gsk 3k or 4k are under $100 but spend the extra dime and order some from haisley machine I have installed over 15 sets and there's work a lot better to me I have seen PAC spring not turn the RPMs there rated at 2 or 3 times even after I tighten them up pass there specs and if u need some 5k or 6k I have a few sets left over from a few builds :woot:

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

My last truck was a '97 12V. When it stopped charging on me I chased the problem for several days. Ended up being a broken wire in the crank sensor harness.

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

Both batteries are good hooked it my meter to the back of alternated only pushing 12.3v

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

Narrowed it down to the PCM is not telling the alternator to charge

Re: Opinions on 12v cummins

I don't know if you want to do it or not but you can install a mid 80s Dodge voltage regulator and take alternator control away from the PCM. That is how my Cummins Chevy is set up and it has worked great for years. Instructions are on the internet but I can't remember where I got them since it has been so long. I do remember not being able to get a Ford regulator to work even though it was supposed to be better.
