Now more problems truck cuts out when accelerating pours white smoke to didn't know how long it's set so I'm goin to drain the tank and change my fuel filter hope that works

The lift pump went bad on my 12 valve and caused it to loose power and cut out. I agree with the fresh fuel and a new filter first though.

Fresh fuel and filter runs just as bad once the truck warms up there's no drivin it cuts out pops shakes dies then hard to start and get back running

It's not fuel quality related. When you have white smoke it's raw diesel fuel at the incorrect time. Usually related to injection pump. Occasionally injector related but usually on start up only.

You have P pump? I didn't go back and look at your year

They have governor problems, cam probs, cold start solenoid probs etc...
Mostly related to long term fuel starvation from weak lift pumps

How would I go about checking that what do I check first and how I'm not a deisel mechanic so this is all new to me

Sounds exactly like what mine did when I changed the filter and didn't prime it.

Sounds like a typical dodge. Needing worked on. You should have run away from it.

So what do you have a P pump or Rotary?

Look these up online then check yours out.

Then research white smoke under load and loss of power. You'll find some tricks that will help you diagnose this pump and fuel system issues.

Now that you bought one it's only right that you learn on your own how to repair it. Anyone who buys a dinosaur should know how to fix it otherwise you will lose nothin but money and time :)

On the bright side, learn all of this early and you'll have a bulletproof tow rig.

I'm goin to check the timing on it tonight it'll idle all day long but when I drive it it feels and sounds like it's runnin on one cylinder

Research research research

Dodges don't have glow plugs. They use an intake heater grid

White smoke can also be junk turbo...can be pourin oil right into exhaust

Can have stuck injectors as well... Run some of the 911 treatment through the fuel... The low sulfur fuel out now doesn't lube the older pumps like supposed too

It has a pretty new turbo and I've already ran howes through it

Sounds like someone that didn't have a clue what they were doing has been inside the pump turning **** and also possibly installed a gov kit wrong.

I've checked the timing it's good I've replaced the lift pump so it's good and have cracked the injectors lose to see if they change the idle and they all do I'm out of ideas at this point
