The last few days I have done nothing but grind on the frame taking it down to bare metal. I have cut off all factory exhaust, crossmember, shock, spring hangers and other Ih crap off of the frame. I also received my new spring and shackle hangers from RUFFSTUFF.

I went down to Western Metal here in town and bought some hefty angle to use as my fish plate.

This will double as my spring hanger mount/ front bumper.

This picture is a little deceving it makes it look crooked. It really isnt.

The front spring hangers are on backwards. If you turn them around they'll act like sliders if you're rubbing on an object. You could also plate the front of the hanger for a better slide. The fishplate welds look nice. I have a piece of receiver tubing if you want to put that on the rear for a hitch.

The front is on backwards intentionally so that I wouldnt have to make a plate for the front. The only real difference of flipping it around would be another 1 1/2 forward on the axle, which may be worth it. I am going to flip the back mounts around, I got to thinking about them after I tacked them in place.

The front leaf mount are fine, just like your dad did is a good way. I was talking about the rear mounts.

Another thing to think about is how it will sit. When you get your mounts tacked on, flip it over and add some weight so you can get an idea of how it will sit with the axles under it. Look to see if it's nose high or butt high, you may want to adjust your mounts or shackles. You have that old 350, put that in the front.

I just moved all my mounts for my front springs, raised them to run lift springs but not raise the Jeep any. When I did this I stretched the distance between to mounts so the shackles would be strait up and down because in the stock location I kept getting the front shackle leaning ( lower part of the shackle pushed out ) and now the front flexes better and it corners better on road...my .02

Thanks for the tips guys. I have been so busy I havent had a chance to really do anything. I have the shackles positioned so that they should be about equal front to back (height/weight distribution to the rig).

Apparently my camera is a POS some of my pics are blurry. I ordered spring perches Monday. I will be able to slap my 14 bolt back together here soon and atleast have rolling chassis. The only thing I will be missing for the 14 bolt are the disc brake adapters. For the front I have a dana 44. For now It will get me running and atleast on the road until I can save up for a 60.

I did what you guys said and turned this around.

Probably some 4 or 5" shackles. Certainly not as long as they are now.

I made this piece to box in the back of the frame

I got the motor sitting in there yesterday and it sits pretty good. All of my mounts seem to be in the right place, shackles at the right angle. I am ready to weld it off.

Transfercase and transmission are way to high in this picture. I need to get my crossmember bolted to the transfercase and tacked in place.

I went to fit the crossmember in yesterday and guess what, It doesnt fit. So, I wont be able to use the crossmember that came with my transfercase. I will have to build my own out of rectangular tubing and angle iron. Custom is better anyway.
