• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

So i bought a 51 Whilly

Did you do some damn voo-doo snow dance up there?! After that 88 degree comment, it has apparently done nothing but add to the pack. Reports are 8-10 feet at Gatekeeper last weekend. We're gonna have to look for somewhere else to play than the Con for our Memorial Day weekend... :booo: Thanks Hip

Oh yeah, got a heater hose (radiator flush) tee and a garden hose to npt adapter and my mechanical temp sensor is connected. Now just have to rebuild the junkyard head and get it back on...

there was slush in the rain drops that fell up here today.

fitin her into place today...:D

its the little things that make this forum the best for us gear heads.:awesomework:
Thanks again Clarence.

well i havent had much time in the shop lately but i did get some progress. stripping all the old paint was a pain. im gonna try a chemical stripper on the inside.

Ehausting Day

Made the exhaust today i need to add two more hangers to complete the trianges. the front is a busy little two piece Y pipe with two flanges with gaskets. Then a piece between the Y pipe, flanged to the muffler, and tailpipe assembly.

Thanks Doved85 for the welding job.

Nice exhaust work guys. That's one thing I really don't like doing on my rigs, it never turns out how I planned it. :haha:

Fawking tried to weld my finger today redoing the rear hanger, i had put the weight on the springs and thought where i put the rear most hanger would be ok. well i checked today and then relocated it.:looser: it no longer hits the link bar at full stuff. but i can see its a good thing its only tacked as it needs to move about a inch outboard. Also made the piece to hold the radiator in place from the top. im hoping to photo engrave a bunch of original looking info on it.:awesomework: belt routing all the stuff from the original bezel on the donor blazer. shop logo and original MFR info from the whilly.

So i stripped the old layers of paint off the hood and painted it with a base coat of metalic dark grey.

moved the fuel cell over an 1/8 inch so its now perfectly centered. it looked centered before till i put the bump stops in and i realized an 1/8" gap on one side and a 3/8" gap on the other side, doh now they both have a 1/4':awesomework:

moved the rear exhaust hanger over an 1" or so.

made the rest of the rear seat belt brackets.

I'm thinking make the roof and all the tabs for that and im done.:cheer:

well worked saturday and changed the hot water heater in the house sunday. not much progress but some little things that needed to be finished.

like tapping the subframe for the sheetmetal floors.

making the cowl mount independently fromt the hood, they shared a few bolts before.

adding hood latches.

added the A pillar supports out of 1" .120 wall hrew.

decided to completely redo the interior sheetmetal. making it one piece and much simpler.

roof is still to be done, i need to buy a new piece of .120 aluminium plate 50" by 60".

ordered a fuel injection specialties plug and play harness for the engine today to save some headache on wiring. supposedly just need to supply four wires from the chassis harness.

harness 424
piggyback chip125

should be here in a week.

i start my month long vacation today so the big push to finnish the rig is now officially on.:cheer:

so i will be in the shop working on it every day so if anyone is bored and wants to help stop by. but if you want to distract me please stay away....:fawkdancesmiley:

im pretty sure now that i fixed all the little things i found i believe the problem is the cpi spider leaking after the regulator. snofall 0posted a link to a blazer forumn and that thread was very imformative about those issues. id bet my house thats the issue. if she buys the part ill install it but i think they are just gonna buy a newer car?

its whillz time for me.

today i started by cleanning the shop. then relocated my drive train a 1/2 inch so i can put on my aluminium tranny pan. :redneck:

re made a few tabs but its done and im glad i did it. solved a couple little tiny issues i had brewing.

tomorrow re do the front of the cowl area to make room for the distributer.

today i ordered this:

With that fuel pump setup, are you not worried about back feeding?

I have heard with the higher pressure pumps, that to do the setup you have, you need check valves?

I may be totally wrong but hey I thought I would ask.:redneck:

:awesomework:Good work!

i believe these pumps have a check built right into the exit side. if not i will probably need some.
finnished off the shrimp baskets today and made the thrid pedal assembly so i can be legal. one pedal must operate all brakes:cool:
