Time to play with the big kids.

One very nice thing about the new motor, is that I am able to flip the intake around this gained me some much needed room in front of the motor. I can now get my power steering reservoir in a much better spot right on top of the pump, and my radiator hose routing is much better.

I built a new rad mount, I had to move the bottom of the rad forward so I made a new skidplate off the front bumper, made a removable upper mount to make it easier to pull the motor and to get the rad out.

Well I finished up the rad mount so I started trying to figure out how to mount get my Alternator, and Steering P Pump on this motor since I can't use stock brackets and most people switch pump types.

Since I'm running the truck accessories I got just enough room to fit the pump and not have it try and be inside the engine head.

Brackets getting mocked up. Still need to pull them off and finish cutting/trimming and putting some speed holes in them. Still working on the alternator and finishing up the tensioner mount (the mount isn't in these pics).

No fancy plasma cutter over here, just a bandsaw, drill press and cutoff wheel. Paper templates and some scrap I pulled out of a scrap bin. Was saving this disk for an art project but the buggy is more important.

Alternator bracket taking shape, hopefully get this stuff all wrapped up tonight.

Just noticed I need to trim off the unused hole on the tensioner, Was hoping to use both bolt holes for redundancy, but things didn't line up quite right :booo:

Might make a different brace :mad: :haha:

As nicely as the rest of the build is going, I would go with a new brace that will pick up that 3rd hole. :;

go fast/racing using a p-pump= boom bring lots of spare pumps. They are not ment for high rpm apps. I blew up many stock and psc P-pumps, and then gave up. I have had way better luck with a moded tc pumps.

Where was your reservoir mounted in relation to the pump? and what were your running for a cooler?
 
So that brace bugged me. I needed to make one with a bend in it. I didn't want to cut it out of a piece and then remembered a little trick I figured out awhile go for doing some bends on a job (also how I bent my swaybar arms).

I used my bender :redneck: It works really well bending flatbar on edge. I've done some 1"x3/8" before and am sure with my hydro bender setup I could go wider.

Looks much better now.

Looks good Pook, but also looks week with all them holes in it. If it were my rig (and I know its not), I would have gone with a triangular shaped bracket with each corner picking up a hole as I think it would go better with the look of the other brackets as well as be stronger and not flex.

I agree 100%. I know a fellow that burned up 5 PSC p-pumps (due to rpm's)and went to POS steering. Sean at POS makes an extremly reliable p-pump, just don't add rear steer:eeek:

I thought about the triangular bracket, but I got some stuff that may need to go in that empty space above the water pump.
