Thanks guys, the rig did great in Oroville. We low scored a couple courses, we were in 6th place and were ahead of Shannon Campbell by 5 points going into the last course before the shoot out. A4 the Terminator. We had to climb and drop the small side then go around and hit the large side. Shannon went right before us and made it look way to easy.
Having never driven a wall that big before, and never with a v8 and an automatic I was a bit nervous especially knowing this was a make it or break it course. If we made it clean with minimal reverses we would be bumped up into 3rd place going into the shootout.
I took a test feel on the short wall and it felt good so I bumped up it and dropped the other side. Then it was time for the real big wall. I took some pokes at and grabbed reverse to save it. In hindsight we should of dumped the water out of the rear tires and all the tools out of the tool box...We had a bit more stuff than normal on the car not knowing if we if were going to have any new car issues or not. The rear weight hurt us on the big climb.
After a couple reverse saves I hit the wall a bit harder, but didn't have enough speed at the bottom and speed up to much on the actual wall which kicked the front end up to high. I went to slam reverse but didn't get it hard enough and hit neutral. Car rolled down the hill and got bounced sideways. :booo:
All in all me and Berne did great job 7th place in our first comp as a team, and keeping up with the seasoned experienced promod teams through out the weekend.
We made a few new team mistakes early on the first day, that we've now figured out and I'm looking forward to great rest of the season.
