Video Rights?

LandSpeeder said:
You said it wasn't a park, but it sounds to me like it was a park.
Or am I confused as to who had the film crew hired?

That was just something that pissed me off at one park. Make me really not like TV shows.

The issue I am having now is with event promoters not the parks themselves. Mostly TGW.

ah, gotchya. Well. If it's little things here and there and really doesn't affect you to a large degree, I'd say just respect their wishes and just ignore it and keep on keepin on.

For the Mud Stuff the Park owners invite me to the events and want me to be there for exposure. But TGW says they dont want me there. That is my dilemma. And that is what brought up the question about rights.

Tgw is gay as aids anyhow I've seen their vids a long time ago maybe they have gotten better??? If say prob just have to skip that ride/race or whatever it is!

Couple of questions and observations:

Could you go to a NASCAR event and expect to film the race and put it on YouTube and make money?
NASCAR doesn't own Texas Motor Speedway. What if you had permission directly from Texas Motor Speedway? Do you think you think you could still put that nascar race on YouTube to make money? I think the answer is no. NASCAR has spent millions building that brand, why should anyone else be able to directly profit from their investment without permission?

You said you are promoting the sport and venue. How many people come to the events because of your videos? How many people come because of the promoters?

From the outside looking in, it sounds like you want the Venues and the Promoters to spend all the money to put on an event, promote the event, attract the best racers, take all the risk that comes with it and you film it, make money on YouTube from it and give nothing back, even if it's just video for their facebook page? Sounds like you are the ballsiest business person ever, or the greediest.

Just my 2 cents.

Since I don't have a dog in this fight, I can say without worry, that you sound like the biggest **** ever. Nice first post. ::)

If you don't think Busted Knuckle Films and Madram11 have caused a HUGE increase in attendance to offroad park events, you are a certified dumbass. How many ****ers in the offroad world can you go out and talk to that has never heard of BK or Mardram? I certainly would not call Matt greedy, and there damn sure isn't anything wrong with a ballsy business person. He's an ambitious go getter making **** happen!

I'd say **** TGW and I hope the above douche is part of TGW. More like Trucks Gone To The Back Corner Of The Field For An All Male Anal Orgy....... :flipoff1:

BABAHHAHA!!! Wooo hooooo!!! Woke up my girl laughin at that ****. Haha. But for real, I agree with JD, Fukin youtube is Prob why i have what seems like 200K in my rig... Tell me the first Time u saw one of The videos Ya didn't get chills and penis envy right then and there... Not only do they MAKE this "sport" bigger, but the Fukin parts companies aughta pay Em!!! I would LOVE to know how many dollars in parts BK or MR are responsible for from folks breaking **** when they see the cameras on them... Ha. Am i the only one that has thought about this??
Oh and Sandydavid welcome to HARDLINE, looks like ur off to a good start.. With first post like that U should really love it here, just wait ... As the infamous A1tonyota said "gay as aids" .. :woot:

Either they pay for your time promoting their event or you keep your videos. I wouldn't give em ****.

I honestly think the drivers should own their video rights unless they are signing them away, the promoter should own the rights to their name if it's copy written.

This happened with skateboarding and BMX a while back. Guys used to get excited if they made it into a video, then ESPN got involved and wouldn't let people film the contests. So now instead of riding/skating for the love of it, people expect to get paid for everything and drama like this happens. Its ruined those sports and its killing wheeling. Pesonaly I think event videos get boring real quick anyway. You can only watch people try the same hill so many times. The older BK and mad ram clips where the guys were just out wheeling and hitting **** different ways were way more fun to watch.

If you film the event with no mention of TGW or whatever promoter would there be an issue?

Paging JohnG. Can we get a screen name change to "SandyVagina" on aisle 3?

Thank you!

Like just mentioned^^^ people have been videoing the oh bouncers for years now these "promoters" have decided to make these money series' to make it "worth it" for the drivers and promoters! If it weren't for freelance videographers then none of the well known drivers would be known other than at their home parks.

Sandydavid your ignorant!!! :gtfo:

I'm just one person but I would not go to a park for something like this.
I dodge all big events because of all the BS drama. It takes the fun out of riding.

i am sure that Nascar has written in all video rights. There are still youtube channels and drivers with film crews following them around that are making money off of it. Same as Monster Jam!

You said you are promoting the sport and venue. How many people come to the events because of your videos? How many people come because of the promoters?
Way more than you may think. I never saw a single TGW DVD but I knew what North vs. South was from Youtube Videos. The promoter has 300k fans on FB we have 800k. Social Media is where people get their news now.

I want to continue to help build a sport and bring more and more people out to events while making enough money off of youtube to pay my travel expenses to the events. (It doesnt pay very well)

Just my 2 cents.

I knew that something like this would come up sooner or later... It really is a shame because BK and MadRam have absolutely, hands down brought out sport into the public eye and continue to do so every single weekend.

I cant tell you how many times I have showed y'all videos to people who have NEVER EVEN HEARD OF WHEELING and the first thing they say is always the same... "I want to do that!" or "When will you take me to a race?"

It is absurd to think that BK and MadRam have not SINGLE HANDEDLY made this sport what it is today. I am thankful to have them do what they do and I hope that they continue to do it!

Everyone else can :flipgotcha:

Right now I dont feel like I am hurting their business. But if they shut me out from their events I will have no choice but to compete directly.

That what I did all year. I guess they didnt like that either. I was trying not to steal their thunder on youtube. Just showcase the drivers,
