Walker, Ron's Run Re-route....

And when the blockade through the swale, on Ron's Run, fails as a deterrent; what now? You block it again!?!?......Do you not see the flaw in this? In this scenario, personal determination does not accomplish. Acceptance, doesn't fix the issue either. But acceptance will help lead you to find the answer.
The system's not perfect and you know that...
It seems you have the answer...why not just lay it out there???

So you do it anyways, KNOWING that it won't work. Wow!.....at least you're being honest.:awesomework:

There's nothing more I can do for you. Good luck.
...and I will continue to...
Again, until a better solution comes along this is what we have to work with...a far from perfect way of doing things...if you have the answer, again, why not lay it out there???

.......again, why not lay it out there???

Rule#1. Let the by-pass go un-molested by volunteers. Stop the fear mongering, and; don't let it get to you. Nothing is getting shut down because of an undelt-with by-pass.

Rule#2. Don't mention the problem to the DNR. They have already seen it; it is of their attention. Let them bring up the issue. If blockading is their solution, let them deal with it. Volunteers build.....they don't block. "We'll be glad to help organize a better located by-pass."

3. Do not mention either of these 2 rules online or on the forum ever again. This thread will be that last time we talk about it.

I wouldn't assume this if I were you. The DNR had tentative plans of closing the trail this spring if things got out of hand.

And why would they not just close it?

This idea has been brought up many times in the past and never happens.

Really Mark what's your issue with this? If it's just an issue of volunteers wasting their time then let those volunteers make that decision for themselves.
I would argue that using logs to block a bypass DOES work it's just temporary. Temporary is what is needed in this case.:;

The issue isn't with the volunteers themselves Rick...It seems the issue is that group leaders are wasting volunteer hours by doing tasks they are asked to do by DNR, and that's fine...I'm good with that, let him vent...
Some good came from last night. I'm also good with that...

And where my "crying" (Thanks Jim) stems from. If something doesn't work, then why do it? And why fool yourself (not you Rick) into believing it does work?

My "crying " comment was aimed at your comment about having your posts deleted (assuming by me) Nothing to do with the work being done.

I see both sides, Mark's side and everyone elses.... :redneck:

I also see the blockaides as being a temporary fix until a more suitable, permanent fix is in place. As long as the volunteers know that their efforts are going into a temporary fix, I dont see the problem with it. If as a volunteer, you choose not to be a part of it (I.E. wasting your time on a temporary fix) then so be it. You have that right as a volunteer.

Now that I have that out of the way, where is this trail so I can go see it for myself and have a better understanding of what is being discussed here?

Oh my f'n god....

So Mark, you know whats really f-ed up about all this? That we have a bypass idea that would fix the problem and stay next to the trail. But Kevin insisted that cutting 24" off a tree snag to allow people to go around this rock was 'too much' and that it'd need to get approved.

So much for common sense prevailing.

People going around the swale are for two reasons:
1) People fed up with waiting because there is a large group winching at the tough spot.
2) Quads, bikes, or other ill-equipped vehicles who can't get over the obsticle.

Those two reasons are why the swale WON'T get blocked off, and more reason why we should have cut the 24" off a dead snag so people could get around the rock/log obsticle near the top.

Instead, because Kevin was worried about DNR -- we decided to leave it. a BAD DECISION in my opinion. Why? because it doesn't fix the problem and we will see the swale torn open again by next weekend. Whats even more funny is we're talking about a small bypass around a rock that DNR wouldn't even notice if it was created.

gg Guys.

Transfer all our banter over here.:hi: and then delete my post here.

Good discussion.

:haha: That's how you interpreted that?:eeek: I've got you on the run......and I guess you have me too.

Here is the obsticle .. and my suggested fix...

OMFG :haha:

I could see a bypass if it was something bad ass. But putting it in for you don't have to get out of your ill equipped rig and pull cable

If that is the case then pave the f%cker

What a bunch of gurl scouts

rant off
