Walker, Ron's Run Re-route....

Yup, it's been mentioned before about the limited materials we have at our disposal...NO, it's (log brigade) not gonna keep everybody out, but it will keep the honest honest....if it gets blown out, some one (or some folks) will block it again....until a more permanent solution is conjured up....

There are limited materials which could possibly be used for a blockade. Problem being none of them are very likely to work. Logs won't stop anyone but they will let the honest people know which way to go...Kinda like a lock keeping honest people honest....

And where my "crying" (Thanks Jim) stems from. If something doesn't work, then why do it? And why fool yourself (not you Rick) into believing it does work?

I don't have any room to say anything about this as I'm not in a position where I can volunteer any help right now. I'm just trying to keep up so hopefully I can help later on.:cheer:

So what's the solution. Why do I feel there's more to this than what we're all reading?

Where has the solution of a "blockade" worked? Details please.....where was it and what was it? Huge hole? large rocks? What worked......permanently.

If your implying I'm fooling myself into thinking it does work, you're mistaken...but as stated before, I won't just stop doing it...I will however, make an effort in trying to come up with a better solution, while doing what I am currently doing, futile or otherwise....

So what's the solution.

As a volunteer, be realistic with what efforts you put forth. As a group leader, understand the difference of making an actual positive difference; as opposed to doing something in fear of "doing nothing".

Help building a new trail? yes
Help block by-passes on that trail? no
Help add a better placed by-pass? yes

Using logs or large rocks as a blockade? no
Devising a way to incorporate the bypass? yes

Having a volunteer group leader without the understanding of all-the-above? no

Pick a side. You're being indecisive.

I hope that when you do have the time, you will not be swayed into "blockading" as asolution.

At least as of now, the run up the hill to the road (past the logs)...the large rock idea failed at the shoefly gate (the left side going in...)...(about 4yrs ago) There have been several blockages going up what is now the easy valley connector......before they logged that area, just before you went into the timber, there used to be about 1/2 dozen little offshoots to the trail...those offshoots got blocked (by logs/stumps,etc), and remain unused to this day.... There are a couple others that were blocked along what is now Timber Tamer trail that are still effective...
That said, and I hate to bring this up even though it's not new news...BUT a lot of the current issues Walker's having is due in large to Reiter closing, causing massive overuse/abuse for it's design....

theres an awful lot of bitching goin on, its very entertaining. logs just make the bypasses better. :flipoff:

And when the blockade through the swale, on Ron's Run, fails as a deterrent; what now? You block it again!?!?......Do you not see the flaw in this? In this scenario, personal determination does not accomplish. Acceptance, doesn't fix the issue either. But acceptance will help lead you to find the answer.

I understand that what I may do up there may very well get blown out...am I going to just stop? No.... That's not fooling myself into thinking it will work...

So you do it anyways, KNOWING that it won't work. Wow!.....at least you're being honest.:awesomework:

There's nothing more I can do for you. Good luck.

But again, the current bypass up the swale is not an option...if you think you can sway the minds at DNR/Forestry, go for it...I personally like the idea of the left side of the rock...but need to get an ok before carrying out the work....

Maybe you need to write it in crayon $M, maybe use smaller words?:haha:

I suppose I'm just like Kevin, in the way that I can not and will not accept that leaders will continue to mislead volunteers with with illusions of grandeur; after their work on a blockade.
